According to Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Ca Mau has a rich revolutionary tradition and holds a very important position in both economic and social terms, as well as in national defense and security. During the resistance wars against the French and the Americans, Ca Mau – Bac Lieu became a solid revolutionary base for the Xuy Nam Bo Party Committee and the Central Office for South Vietnam. Places like Cai Chanh, Noc Nang, Hon Khoai, Dam Doi, Cai Nuoc, and Cha La are forever etched in history for the valiant struggles of the local people and soldiers.

In recent years, the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Ca Mau province have made continuous efforts and achieved important and comprehensive results in various fields. The province has witnessed fairly good socio-economic development, with a fairly high economic growth rate; the GRDP per capita reached VND 80 million; and the economic structure has been shifting towards increasing the proportion of industry and services while reducing the proportion of agriculture.

“Ca Mau has become the country’s largest center for seafood production and processing, with many eco-friendly and high-tech farming models linked to exports. Synchronous investment has been made in socio-economic infrastructure, and the province has become a leader in clean energy with the operation of many renewable energy, wind power, and solar power projects,” shared Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee.

In addition to these impressive achievements, local social security has been guaranteed, and people’s lives have improved significantly. Notably, Ca Mau completed the program to eradicate temporary and dilapidated houses ahead of the national schedule, with a total investment of over VND 471 billion. National defense and security have been ensured, maintaining political stability and social order and safety.

The Party building work and the political system have been carried out synchronously and decisively, with enhanced leadership capacity of Party committees and improved administration of authorities at all levels. The two-level local government has been successfully established and put into operation.

Post-merger, Ca Mau enjoys convenient access to domestic and international maritime routes and has become the “shrimp capital” of Vietnam, with an export turnover of over USD 2.5 billion per year. Ca Mau aims to become a comprehensively developing and dynamic province by 2030, joining the rest of the country in embracing a new era.
