On August 27, the Investment Construction and Urban Development Project Management Board of Hue City shared that they are directing contractors to expedite the completion of the final items and tasks, as well as organizing a comprehensive clean-up of the site, in preparation for the inauguration of the technical infrastructure on the occasion of the 80th National Day on September 2.

The project broke ground in July 2024, on a plot of land with four frontages on Ha Huy Tap, To Huu, Ly Tu Trong, and Bui San streets. The site was previously home to the Thua Thien-Hue Province’s Sports Center and Sports Training Center in what was formerly Xuan Phu Ward, now known as Vy Da Ward in Hue City.

The project is under the management of the Investment Construction and Urban Development Project Management Board of Hue City, with a set construction timeline of 240 days. It was initially planned to inaugurate the technical infrastructure in March 2025, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hue.

However, due to weather conditions and challenges in land clearance, the People’s Committee of Hue City granted an extension to finalize the technical infrastructure, including the square, stands, outdoor stage, fountain, greenery, lawn, lighting, and pedestrian pathways, in time for the National Day celebrations on September 2 this year.

These days, the final stages of constructing essential technical infrastructure elements for the square are being expedited.

The project’s landscaping and tree-planting work has been completed.

Workers are rushing to finish the remaining sections of the lawn.

The stone paving across the square has been completed.

The technical infrastructure along To Huu, Ha Huy Tap, and Bui San streets is nearing completion.

However, the area of the square bordering Ly Tu Trong Street remains cluttered with construction materials.

According to Mr. Ha Xuan Hau, Director of the Investment Construction and Urban Development Project Management Board of Hue City, given the current construction progress, the technical infrastructure of the square will be ready for inauguration in time for the 80th National Day celebrations.

This is one of 16 key and representative projects of Hue City that will be inaugurated or commenced on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Specifically, the renovation, upgrade, and refurbishment of the old building of the Sports Center, which is part of the city’s cultural and sports square project, are expected to be completed by February next year, according to the signed contracts with the contractors.
