On the evening of August 29, the Ministry of Public Security announced that it is currently expanding its investigation into a criminal case involving “Bribery” at the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) and related companies.
The expanded investigation has uncovered acts of bribery in the process of reviewing and issuing certificates of confirmation for advertising content related to health-protective foods.

Based on the collected evidence and documents, on August 28, the Office of the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to prosecute and arrest ten defendants and ordered searches of their residences and workplaces at fifteen locations.
Specifically: Prosecuted and detained Tran Viet Nga, Director of the Food Safety Department; Tran Thi Thu Lieu, Deputy Head of the Food Poisoning Surveillance and Communication Room, Food Safety Department; and Nguyen Thi Hai Ha, Specialist of the Standard and Testing Management Room, Food Safety Department, for “Taking Bribes”, as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 354 of the Penal Code.
Prosecuted and subjected to the measure of prohibition of leaving the place of residence: Phung Thi Thuy Ha, Specialist of the Food Poisoning Surveillance and Communication Room, Food Safety Department; Nguyen Thi Viet Ha, Specialist of the Product Management Room, Food Safety Department, for the crime of “Taking Bribes” according to Clause 4, Article 354 of the Penal Code; Tran Thi Luu, Specialist of the Product Management Room, Food Safety Department, for the crime of “Taking Bribes”, as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 354 of the Penal Code.
Prosecuted and subjected to the measure of prohibition of leaving the place of residence: Dau Thi Giang (born in 1994, residing in Nghe An province) for the crime of “Offering Bribes” according to Clause 4, Article 364 of the Penal Code; Nguyen Thanh Uyen (born in 1992, residing in Hanoi) for the crime of “Offering Bribes”, as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 364 of the Penal Code.
Prosecuted without applying preventive measures: Quách Thị Trà My (born in 1992, residing in Hanoi) for the crime of “Offering Bribes”, as stipulated in Clause 3, Article 364 of the Penal Code; Tran Thi Quynh Trang (born in 1992, residing in Hanoi) for the crime of “Offering Bribes”, according to Clause 4, Article 364 of the Penal Code (currently detained at T16 Detention Camp, Ministry of Public Security, for another case).
Currently, the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security is investigating and clarifying the violations of related individuals to strictly handle them according to the law.
