Yamaha Taiwan is set to launch its all-new electric motorcycle, the CUXiE, on September 4th. This highly anticipated model is expected to build upon the success and legacy of Yamaha’s legendary CUXi series, earning it the nickname, “The Electric CUXi.”

Announcement of Yamaha’s new electric model

The Yamaha CUXi, first introduced in 2006 with a 100cc engine (upgraded to 115cc in 2014), is renowned for its compact size, agility, ease of handling, and low seat height. With additional style options such as bohemian and coastal themes, this motorcycle has captured the hearts of consumers.

On their official Facebook page, Yamaha teased the CUXiE with a glimpse of its square-shaped headlight assembly, building excitement for the upcoming launch. The company also announced that more information will be revealed on September 1st.

The CUXiE’s design is expected to resemble the popular Gogoro EZZY in this market.

According to media reports, Yamaha has registered two versions of the CUXiE electric motorcycle in Taiwan. Both variants feature a maximum power output of 3 horsepower and offer all-electric ranges of 39 km and 83 km, respectively. The CUXiE’s engine and range are similar to the Gogoro EZZY, positioning it in the entry-level electric motorcycle segment (equivalent to a 50cc motorcycle, not requiring a license).

Data also suggests that despite having the same power output, the CUXiE is approximately 6-7 kg heavier than the EZZY, which could account for the slight difference in range. With its compact size and agility, the CUXiE is expected to appeal to daily commuters and female customers.

As an entry-level offering, the Yamaha CUXiE is expected to be competitively priced, making it accessible to a wide range of customers.
