Opening the conference, Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Tam said that in the first eight months of the year, the country’s economy continued to achieve positive results. GDP growth in the first six months reached 7.52%, the highest in almost 20 years, putting Vietnam at the top of ASEAN and among the fastest-growing economies in the world.

Total registered FDI in the first seven months reached more than $24 billion, with realized capital of $13.6 billion. Notably, industrial production has recovered rapidly and become an important driver of the economy’s overall growth.

People and businesses are increasingly confident in the economy’s growth prospects, boosting new investments and expanding business operations. The wave of startups has grown strongly. The number of newly established and reactivated enterprises and households is the highest ever. In the first eight months of the year, the country is estimated to have nearly 128,200 enterprises and 73,855 households, with 80,800 enterprises resuming operations.

The two-level local government has initially operated well, shifting from administrative management to development and service for the people and businesses.

The Politburo has issued four resolutions (57, 68, 59, and 66), forming an important pillar to create a strong foundation and momentum to propel the country forward in the new era, realizing the vision of a developed Vietnam with high income by 2045. The above-encouraging results are largely contributed by the business community.

Speaking at the conference on behalf of enterprises, Mr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Members’ Council of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), said that after more than 50 years of operation, the group has become the largest enterprise in Vietnam, ranking 11th in Southeast Asia, with total assets of more than VND 1,000 trillion, owner’s equity of more than VND 840,000 billion, and cumulative total revenue of $599 billion.

Petrovietnam is also the largest contributor to the state budget, with about $142 billion, averaging more than VND 165,000 billion/year in the last five years.

Currently, the group is developing based on three pillars: energy, industry, and technical services, aiming to enter the Fortune 500 by 2030. Mr. Hung affirmed that Petrovietnam is ready to cooperate with other enterprises and credit institutions and hopes to continue receiving the guidance and support of the Party, State, and Government.

Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Viettel, said that after more than 36 years of construction and development, Viettel has mastered many strategic equipment and researched and manufactured more than 50 types of high-tech weapons and technical equipment for national defense.

From 2017 up to now, Viettel has maintained an average contribution of nearly VND 470 billion/year to the fields of health, education, and social security… For many years, the enterprise has led in revenue, profit, and budget contribution.

In the field of telecommunications, Viettel has built an extensive infrastructure, covering remote areas, helping to bridge the digital divide, and is present in 10 international markets.

Regarding digital transformation, Viettel has accompanied many agencies in building digital government, digital economy, and digital society. In the field of high technology industry, the group has mastered the 5G ecosystem and is focusing on researching 9/11 groups of national strategic technologies.

In the field of trade and logistics, Viettel promotes the application of technology to develop national infrastructure, promote the circulation of goods in the country, region, and the world.

Mr. Thang affirmed that in the next period, Viettel committed to better performing the functions of a combat, working, and labor production army and being a pioneer and key enterprise of Vietnam, worthy of the trust and expectations of the Party, State, Government, and Army for Viettel.

Typical of the private sector, Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group, said that in the past time, the Party and State have issued many important guidelines and policies to make tourism a spearhead economic sector. Especially, Resolution 08 of the Politburo has clearly defined the goal that by 2030, tourism will become a driving force, promoting the development of many other fields.

Starting its business in Da Nang in 2007, Sun Group has pioneered investing and developing tourism in a methodical way through a tourism ecosystem, with resorts and entertainment projects stretching from the North to the South. The group’s projects have been internationally recognized many times, thereby positioning Vietnam on the world tourism map.

In each project, Sun Group not only creates unique tourism and resort products but also brings livelihoods to local workers, promotes socio-economic development, and preserves and promotes cultural identity and natural landscape.

Along with tourism, Sun Group also accompanies the country, participating in many important infrastructure projects such as airports, seaports, and expressways, contributing to local socio-economic development and connecting tourist destinations.

In the new context, with many opportunities and challenges, the business community, including Sun Group, is committed to continuing to accompany the Government to develop and prosper.

Representatives of the FDI enterprises also made remarkable remarks. Mr. Bruno Jaspaert, General Director of DEEP C Industrial Zone Complex, shared: “I learned a proverb of the Vietnamese people: ‘There’s no gain without pain,’ which means that if you work hard, one day you will achieve success. The question is, will it be easy for Vietnam to become a high-income country?.”

Mr. Bruno Jaspaert also frankly assessed that this would not be easy. If it were, many other countries in the world would have achieved this status. And Vietnam has an aspiration to become a carbon-neutral country by 2050.

“Does Vietnam have the necessary conditions to achieve this goal? For foreign investors like us, is the era of prosperous development and growth happening here? I cannot speak for all foreign businesses and investors in Vietnam, but I fully believe in the leadership of the Vietnamese Government to make Vietnam the economic leader in Southeast Asia,” affirmed the leader of DEEP C.
