On August 28th, the Exhibition of National Achievements, celebrating 80 years of “Independence, Freedom and Happiness” officially opened at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (VEC). The event attracted significant public attention, not only for its modern venue, ranked among the top 10 largest exhibition centers in the world, but also for its innovative use of digital technology to enhance the visiting experience.

Among the technological highlights was the 3D digital map solution, Digimap, developed by Digitran Ltd. This interactive map provided visitors with easy access to thousands of exhibition booths and an immersive digital experience.

Digital Transformation in the Exhibition Space

As visitors navigated the vast exhibition areas, they no longer had to worry about getting lost or overwhelmed. By scanning a QR code, they could instantly access the digital map on their smartphones. The map offered a comprehensive view of the entire exhibition space, including thematic booths on economics, culture, science, and technology, as well as dedicated areas for international participants. Digimap went beyond a traditional 2D map by providing a 3D representation of the space, allowing users to better understand the layout, depth, and scale of the exhibition, and plan their route accordingly.

“This is the first time in Vietnam that a national-scale exhibition has utilized a 3D digital map to guide visitors,” shared Mr. Tran Minh Long, Director of Digitran Ltd. “Our goal is to ensure that visitors don’t waste time trying to find their way around but instead can fully immerse themselves in the exhibition.”

Mr. Long further elaborated on the challenges and tight timeline they faced. The collaboration with the organizers (VEC) began just a month ago, leaving them with a very short window to deliver a project of this scale. Usually, for international projects, they would require at least six months. However, the dedicated team of engineers worked tirelessly to collect data and create the 3D models simultaneously with the organizers’ preparations.

Digitran had prior experience with implementing Digimap at events in Japan, including some of the top food exhibitions in Asia. However, bringing this technology to a national exhibition in their home country presented a unique set of challenges. In addition to digitizing hundreds of locations, the engineers also had to optimize the system to ensure compatibility across different platforms, making it accessible to all visitors.

“We developed a multi-platform solution, deploying it on the web so that it works seamlessly on most iOS and Android devices,” explained Mr. Long. “Once the map is downloaded, the data is stored locally, ensuring quick and uninterrupted access even if the exhibition’s wifi connection is unstable.”

A Proud “Made in Vietnam” Product

Digimap is more than just a navigational tool; it offers a rich and immersive experience. The 3D technology allows visitors to visualize the exhibition space as if they were physically walking through it. This transforms the act of visiting booths into a memorable visual journey, creating a lasting impression of the event.

One notable aspect is that Digimap was entirely developed by a small team of Vietnamese engineers at Digitran. With a lean team of just 5-6 members, they successfully delivered a solution that met the stringent requirements of the organizers within a short timeframe.

Mr. Long proudly stated, “This is not just a digital map, but a technological gateway that makes the country’s 80-year journey of achievements easily accessible, engaging, and inspiring. Our primary goal is to turn the visiting experience into a memorable journey of discovery and exploration. We want to showcase that Vietnamese technology can play a pivotal role in celebrating our nation’s history and contribute to its international recognition through ‘made in Vietnam’ products with global standards.”

From Exhibition to Widespread Future Applications

The 80th Anniversary Exhibition of National Achievements is just the beginning. Digitran envisions Digimap being utilized in various indoor spaces across Vietnam, including shopping malls, hospitals, airports, and international fairs and events hosted in the country.

“In foreign markets, indoor digital maps have become a common tool to enhance customer experience,” said Mr. Long. “In Vietnam, this field is still in its infancy, and Digitran aims to be a pioneer. We hope that through this exhibition, more organizations will recognize the benefits and adopt this technology in their operations.”

Looking ahead, Digitran also aims to expand its solutions beyond exhibition spaces, offering satellite maps and other location-based services. The company remains committed to refining its core technology to handle tens of thousands of concurrent users smoothly. The entire system operates on the cloud infrastructure of reputable international providers, ensuring speed and stability.

The presence of Digimap at this exhibition is a testament to the innovative capabilities of Vietnamese enterprises. As the country celebrates its 80th anniversary, the emergence of a “made in Vietnam” technology product holds special significance, honoring the nation’s history while paving the way for a digital future across various industries.
