The third quarter marks an acceleration point for automakers and their business plans, including the launch of new products, with a particular focus on electric vehicles. Several new players have recently entered this evolving market.
After welcoming three new models, the Audi Q6 e-tron, BYD Atto 2, and Geely EX5, in July, the domestic electric vehicle market entered August with the introduction of the VinFast Limo Green, stirring up excitement.
VinFast’s first electric MPV, which started taking reservations in March, began deliveries in early August. This 7-seater is optimally designed for business transportation services.
Priced at 749 million VND, the Limo Green offers free charging until the end of June 2027 at V-Green stations nationwide. Its low operating costs and convenience will be key advantages as it enters the MPV segment.
Mid-August witnessed another significant development as Ford unveiled its first electric vehicle in Vietnam, the Mustang Mach-E. This modern coupe SUV boasts an aerodynamic design while retaining the iconic Mustang styling cues.
Notably, Ford is installing 53 charging stations at its authorized dealerships and aims to expand this network to 275 charging points nationwide through partnerships.
However, with a price tag of 2.599 billion VND, the Mustang Mach-E is not expected to match the sales figures of other Ford models in Vietnam. This electric car targets a niche audience of affluent enthusiasts seeking the American automotive experience, rather than opting for European luxury electric vehicles.
Following the Mustang Mach-E, the spotlight shifted to VinFast’s Lac Hong 900 LX, a special edition electric vehicle not yet commercially available.
The first batch included two bulletproof versions and ten standard editions, delivered to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for transporting international dignitaries during the 80th National Day celebrations.
The Lac Hong 900 LX impresses with its luxurious and comfortable interior and exterior updates, as well as advanced defense capabilities. The bulletproof version is fully armored, with reinforced body and chassis, and features bulletproof glass and a rear partition by the renowned Canadian company INKAS.
Another electric vehicle debut in August was the Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ FL, a facelift version of the German SUV, priced at 2.309 billion VND.
The EQB 250+ FL joins Mercedes-Benz’s growing lineup of electric vehicles, which now includes seven models: EQS 450+, EQS 580 4MATIC, EQB 250+ FL, EQE 500 4MATIC, EQS 500 4MATIC, G 580 EQ, and Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV.
The continuous launch of new electric vehicles by foreign brands reflects their positive assessment of the Vietnamese market’s potential for EV development.
Since the beginning of 2025, electric vehicles have consistently topped monthly sales charts. In July, VinFast’s electric models dominated the market, claiming the top four spots in sales.
