On the morning of August 30, pepper prices rose by VND 1,000-2,000 per kg compared to the same period yesterday, reaching VND 151,500-153,000 per kg. This is the fifth consecutive day of increase since the beginning of the week, pushing domestic pepper prices to the highest level in the past three months.
Specifically, in Dak Nong and Dak Lak, prices increased by VND 1,000 per kg, with the highest purchase price recorded at VND 153,000 per kg.
In Gia Lai, the price of pepper rose by VND 2,000 per kg and is currently traded at VND 151,500 per kg.
Meanwhile, in the Southeast region, including Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and Binh Phuoc, prices rose simultaneously by VND 2,000 per kg, reaching VND 152,000 per kg.
In the latest trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) quoted the price of Indonesian black pepper at USD 7,216 per ton, down 0.64% from the previous session.
Conversely, Malaysian ASTA black pepper increased by 1.04% (USD 100 per ton), with the highest offer at USD 9,700 per ton.
In Brazil, the price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged at USD 6,400 per ton. Similarly, Vietnam’s black pepper export price remained stable at USD 6,240-6,370 per ton for the 500 g/l and 550 g/l grades.
At the time of the survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper reached USD 10,028 per ton, down 0.65% from the previous day.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s white pepper export price remained unchanged at USD 9,150 per ton, and Malaysian ASTA white pepper was quoted at USD 12,800 per ton.
Commenting on the market situation, experts attributed the upward momentum to expectations of a Fed rate cut in the upcoming meeting and rising demand ahead of the year-end festive season.
Domestically, the market is vibrant ahead of the September 2 holiday. Prices are expected to stabilize in the coming days. The current high price level has brought positive sentiment to farmers.
Vietnam’s pepper exports in the first half of August 2025 reached USD 71.8 million, bringing the total export turnover of this commodity from the beginning of the year to August 15, 2025, to USD 1.06 billion. With this momentum, exports this year are expected to surpass last year’s figures and set a new record for Vietnam’s pepper industry.
According to Nedspice’s report, global pepper production in 2025 is estimated at 434,000 tons, unchanged from last year. Global demand has outstripped supply for five consecutive years, leading to low global inventories.
