The Malaysian market is abuzz with the introduction of the SoloEra Solo 1C, an electric motorcycle from Blueshark, that offers an unbelievable price of just 599 RM (approx. 3.7 million VND) after discounts – a price that’s even lower than many entry-level smartphones. This incredible value proposition is evident from the over 6,000 orders placed in a short span, showcasing a strong interest from consumers.

The SoloEra Solo 1C is an urban electric motorcycle and serves as the introductory model to Blueshark’s upcoming lineup, which includes the higher-performance Solo 2 and Solo 3. In terms of design, the Solo 1C sports a rather conventional look, not straying too far from other electric motorcycles in the market. It is offered in three color options: Lunar White, Nebula Blue, and Nova Orange. With a lightweight construction of just 48kg, the bike can comfortably carry two adults and luggage, thanks to its impressive 220kg payload capacity.

Performance-wise, the Solo 1C is equipped with a 2kW rear-hub motor, producing the equivalent of 2.7 horsepower, enabling it to reach a top speed of 75km/h. Powering the motorcycle is a removable 70.4V 28Ah LFP battery that can be fully charged in approximately 4 hours using a domestic power source. According to NEDC standards, the Solo 1C offers an impressive maximum range of 101km on a single charge. Additionally, it features four riding modes, including three forward gears and one reverse gear, along with a 16-degree hill-climbing capability. The bike rides on 12-inch wheels and is fitted with a CBS disc brake system for assured stopping power. A notable modern feature is its Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to remotely lock/unlock, activate alarms, and locate the bike via their smartphones.

However, the real reason behind the Solo 1C’s popularity isn’t its technical specifications but its unbelievably low price tag of 3.7 million VND. To avail of this promotional price, buyers need to meet certain conditions set by the Malaysian government’s MARiiCas program. These include being a Malaysian citizen aged 18 or above, holding a valid driver’s license, and most importantly, agreeing to a mandatory 5-year battery lease agreement. This lease costs 59 RM (approx. 368,000 VND) per month, along with a 10 RM (approx. 62,000 VND) monthly connectivity package.

Without the MARiiCas discount, the Solo 1C is priced at 2,999 RM (approx. 18.7 million VND). Even excluding the battery lease and connectivity costs, this is still a very attractive price, comparable to a Honda Wave Alpha in the Vietnamese market. Clearly, the Solo 1C is designed with practicality and cost-effectiveness in mind, utilizing a battery lease model similar to other Blueshark vehicles to optimize service and costs for its users.
