On August 31st, Agribank announced that it had deployed tasks to ensure the timely distribution of gifts to the people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd.

Agribank arranged for staff to work through the holidays, actively coordinating with the State Treasury at the local level. They are ready to serve cash withdrawals for the State Treasury, even during off-hours and holidays, to ensure timely cash transfers and withdrawals for gifts to the people, in accordance with the specified timeframe. Agribank does not charge any fees when people withdraw money as per the government’s policy.

Regarding the gift of 100,000 VND per person for all citizens, some banks have reported that in recent days, there have been cases of individuals taking advantage of the government’s gift policy to engage in fraudulent activities aimed at appropriating the assets of the people. The perpetrators’ modus operandi involves sending messages and emails containing malicious codes, impersonating police or bank officials, and requesting personal information…

“Customers and citizens should not click on suspicious links, download applications from unknown sources, provide account numbers, passwords, or OTP codes to anyone under any circumstances, and not transfer money to strangers, even if they claim to be police officers, government officials, or bank employees,” the bank advised. “Only receive information through official channels from the government, the State Bank of Vietnam, and Agribank.”

Many banks are working through the holidays to ensure timely cash transfers and withdrawals for gifts to the people.

BIDV also warned customers about a scam exploiting the gift program for all citizens on Independence Day. In this scheme, scammers pretend to be police officers, government officials, or bank employees and contact customers via phone or social media (Facebook, Zalo, Telegram, Viber…) to “guide them through linking their social security accounts with their bank accounts” or “guide them in receiving financial support.”

Subsequently, the scammers will send fake links or files containing malicious codes or request personal information, banking app passwords, and OTP codes. They may also lure victims into transferring money directly by charging fees or other charges…

“The bank only provides guidance and support to customers through its official website, the BIDV SmartBanking app, the customer care hotline 1900 9247, and its branches. The bank will never ask for passwords or OTP codes, nor will it ever request customers to transfer money to receive support,” BIDV warned.

Banks also advised customers to only download applications from App Store/CH Play. If they notice any suspicious activity, they should report it to the nearest bank branch or local police station.

Earlier, the Prime Minister issued Dispatch No. 149 dated August 28th regarding gifts for people nationwide on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. The gift amount is 100,000 VND per person, so that everyone can celebrate Independence Day.
