The main reason for this price hike is the scarcity of goods at the end of the crop season. Additionally, the 40% tax imposed by the US on transshipped goods has discouraged enterprises from importing cheap coffee and pepper for re-export. This not only increases costs but also creates risks related to proving the origin of the goods.

The Miss Ede coffee brand participates in a fair in South Korea to promote the export of roasted and ground coffee internationally.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the high demand from exporting enterprises will keep pepper and coffee prices high in the short term. However, the department recommends that enterprises develop long-term strategies, invest in deep processing, build brands, and expand markets, rather than relying solely on raw exports.
Nevertheless, the coffee industry is witnessing significant progress. In just the first seven months of 2025, the export turnover of processed coffee exceeded 1.02 billion USD, surpassing the 1-billion-USD mark for the first time in a short period and representing a remarkable 64% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The Import-Export Department attributes this remarkable achievement to the strategic shift of Vietnamese enterprises, focusing on roasted, instant, and blended products to enhance value, cater to modern consumption trends, and meet stringent international market requirements.
Planting the Vietnamese Business Flag on the International Market
The untapped potential of the cross-border e-commerce market is vast, but Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises face significant barriers to entry. It is imperative that the government steps up to provide enhanced support to these businesses. This will ensure that once they have established a foothold in the international arena, they can firmly maintain their presence and thrive.
