At the Exhibition of National Achievements “80 Years of Independence, Freedom and Happiness” currently taking place at the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi), the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) has showcased a model of an electric vehicle battery swap station.
Electric Vehicle Battery Swap Station
According to observations, the station is designed with 19 battery swap slots, equipped with electronic LED screens and cameras to monitor the battery replacement process. However, Petrolimex has not yet announced the service price.
Notably, the display features the logo of Selex Motor, a Vietnamese electric motorcycle brand headquartered in Hanoi. According to Selex Motors, users don’t need to charge at home or wait for charging, as a quick 2-minute battery swap can provide a range of up to 150 km.
Selex Motors has already partnered with other electric vehicle brands in the market, such as Dat Bike, and is working towards the goal of building a shared battery ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the market for electric motorcycle battery swapping is starting to heat up. VinFast, an electric vehicle brand owned by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, recently announced plans to launch electric motorcycles with a battery swap option, along with 1,000 swap stations starting in October, expanding to 50,000 stations by the end of the year, and aiming for a nationwide network of 150,000 stations.
The battery swap electric motorcycle models have a similar design to their built-in battery counterparts, with the difference being a compartment that houses two removable batteries, each with a capacity of 1.5 kWh. Customers can rent one or two batteries, with a rental fee of VND 200,000/battery/month and a battery swap fee of VND 9,000/swap, offering a maximum range of 85 km/battery.
The battery swap process is simple and convenient, requiring users to just open an app, scan a QR code, and have the batteries swapped out in a matter of minutes.
Previously, TMT Motors also declared its intention to invest significantly in electric motorcycles and battery swap stations. In late July, the company announced that it would launch five electric motorcycle models in the fourth quarter, along with a public battery charging and swapping station system.
However, TMT Motors has not yet disclosed detailed plans. It is unclear how many stations the company intends to build, what the costs will be, where the first station will be located, or when it will begin operations. All that is known is that each station is expected to have between 5 and 72 batteries.
