What Honor Was Bestowed Upon the Vietnamese Company With a Near $2 Billion Profit, After Meeting the Prime Minister?

On the afternoon of August 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with businesses on the theme of “80 years of businesses accompanying the country.” The event was attended by representatives from 60 state-owned corporations and general companies, 141 private enterprises, and 50 FDI businesses.

Notably, at the conference, the Prime Minister awarded the First-Class Defense Order to the Military Industry and Telecom Group (Viettel) and Military Bank (MB). This is the recognition of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of Defense for the contributions of Viettel and MB Bank in the past years.

This is also the second consecutive year that Viettel has been honored. Previously, in 2024, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary, Viettel was awarded the First-Class Defense Order by the President for outstanding and outstanding achievements in research and mastering technology.

“Promise” of more than 50,000 Viettel employees

At the conference with the theme “80 years of businesses accompanying the country,” Chairman and CEO of Viettel Corporation, Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, affirmed that under the direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of Defense, in more than 36 years of construction and growth, despite facing many challenges, Viettel has always promoted the tradition and practice of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. Accordingly, the three special functions of combat force, working force, and labor production force have become the guiding light for all activities of Viettel, contributing to ensuring national defense and security, promoting socio-economic development, worthy of the trust and love of the Party, State, Army, and people.

Up to now, Viettel has mastered many strategic equipment, completed the research and manufacture of more than 50 types of high-tech weapons and technical equipment, which have been put into use for training as well as combat readiness of many units under the Ministry of Defense.

Especially, there are many military equipment products of Viettel that are on display at the exhibition of the country’s achievements “80 years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” journey taking place at the Vietnam Exhibition Center, and are participating in the parade and procession on September 2nd.

In the field of high-tech industry, the group’s strategy is to research and develop dual-use products. Along with weapons for the military, Viettel has deployed key product lines in the civil field, especially mastering all equipment in the 5G ecosystem. Currently, many high-tech products of the group have been distributed and exported to foreign markets. In addition, Viettel is focusing on researching and developing 9/11 groups of national strategic technologies according to Decision No. 1131 of the Prime Minister.

In the field of trade and logistics, considering logistics infrastructure as the “lifeline of material flow,” in the past time, Viettel has promoted the application of the most modern technologies to develop the national logistics infrastructure, contributing to stronger connectivity of goods in Vietnam, in the region, and globally.

The Chairman of Viettel Corporation emphasized that on the journey of rising with the country, the group commits to doing better in the functions of the combat force, working force, and labor production force, being the pioneer and main force of Vietnam, worthy of the trust and expectations of the Party, State, Government, and Army for Viettel. This is a promise and also an order from the heart of more than 50,000 Viettel employees globally, contributing to making Vietnam a powerful, prosperous, and eternal country.

In 2024, Viettel Group achieved consolidated revenue of VND 190,000 billion, up 10.3% compared to 2023. Especially, Viettel recorded a record consolidated pre-tax profit of VND 51,000 billion, equivalent to nearly USD 2 billion (as of early 2025). The group’s budget payment increased by 12.3% to VND 42,600 billion. In addition, the average income of the group’s employees in 2024 increased by 6%.

In the first half of 2025, many subsidiaries of Viettel also recorded positive business results, typically Viettel Global (UPCoM: VGI) – Viettel’s subsidiary in the foreign market. Accordingly, in the first 6 months of 2025, Viettel Global’s total revenue reached VND 20,171 billion, up 21.6% over the same period. This figure even far exceeded the average growth rate of the global telecommunications industry (4.7%). Accumulated profit in the first 6 months of the company reached about VND 2,357 billion, up 10% over the same period.
