On August 28, a massive crowd began to gather at the Vietnam Exhibition Center – VEC (Ca Tu Lien Bridge Road, Dong Anh, Hanoi) as the Exhibition of National Achievements “80 Years of Independence, Freedom and Happiness” officially kicked off. Overwhelming and stunning were the first impressions of visitors as they witnessed the largest exhibition space in history.
“I have never seen such a massive exhibition. From the brilliant achievements of the country over the past 80 years, the characteristics of each region, to the latest products and technologies, everything is gathered here,” shared Ms. Nguyen Thu Hang from Hanoi.

The exhibition space, both indoor and outdoor, covers a total area of nearly 260,000 square meters and is designed with modern features, applying new technologies such as AR/VR, 3D Mapping, and Immersive Room, leaving visitors in awe and delight. The large clusters of aircraft models, modern weapons attract long lines of people eager to experience, explore, and take photos…

The technology experience pavilions at the exhibition are always packed. Visitors are thrilled to interact and converse with 100% made-in-Vietnam human-shaped robots by VinMotion, admire the bulletproof Lach Hong 900 LX electric car for dignitaries, or try flying an A320 plane, shooting simulation, and more.

“This is not just a simple exhibition, but a theme park-like experience that offers a rare visual feast. Each display area helps visitors, especially the youth, easily absorb historical knowledge and understand the achievements and development of the country in a natural and vivid way,” excitedly shared by Mr. Tran Van Nghia from Hanoi.

The number of visitors to VEC increased exponentially, peaking on September 1 with a record-breaking 1.05 million people – a number never seen before at any exhibition in Vietnam. This turned VEC into the hottest destination during the 2/9 holiday. Each space is designed as a check-in backdrop, flooding social media with images of the exhibition.
“Wherever you go, you see people smiling, taking photos, and everyone is full of pride. This is indeed a very effective way to educate about history and culture,” shared Mr. Nguyen Van Thai, a 70-year-old veteran from Ninh Binh.

Throughout the exhibition, the red and yellow colors of the national flag dominated VEC. Visitors wore flag-themed shirts and carried flags, creating a festive atmosphere during the Independence Day celebrations.
“Coming here, we truly feel the strong spirit of Vietnam,” shared a group of visitors from Hai Phong.

During this event, the Vietnam Exhibition Center had the honor of welcoming high-ranking delegations, including leaders of the Vietnamese Party, State, and Government, as well as the presence of international delegations from countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, and global partners in the MICE industry. The presence of these high-level delegations affirmed Vietnam’s role as a trusted hub, connecting friends worldwide and showcasing the country’s growing global stature.
Despite welcoming a record-breaking number of visitors, with some days exceeding 1 million, VEC operated smoothly with efficient security and no littering issues. The secret lies in VEC’s comprehensive infrastructure and diverse amenities – from a vast parking lot that can accommodate up to 10,000 vehicles, 2 internal electric bus lines, 12 information counters (indoors and outdoors), and 925 restrooms (both indoor and outdoor) – coupled with Vingroup’s professional operational standards and the support of 2,000 volunteers, ensuring a seamless experience for all visitors.
“Despite the huge crowd, it remains safe, clean, and the staff are very helpful,” commented Mr. David Brown, an American visitor.

With a scale that ranks among the top 10 largest exhibition centers in the world, VEC has proven its capability to host large-scale events. It is envisioned as the “event city” of the future, a hub for the cultural and entertainment industries, driving new growth for the capital and the country.
“The success of the Exhibition of National Achievements gives us the confidence to develop the Vietnam Exhibition Center into a symbol of the nation’s new vitality and progress,” noted historian Duong Trung Quoc.

Given the special attention and widespread impact of this event among the people, the Prime Minister decided to extend the exhibition by 10 days from the initial plan, until October 15, to allow more people to visit and experience it.
In response to the Prime Minister’s decision, VEC announced free venue rental and operational services for all exhibitors, joining hands to make this exhibition a true “festival” for the country.

With the overwhelming success of the Exhibition of National Achievements, experts believe that VEC has the capacity to host the world’s largest events, putting Vietnam on the map as one of the leading exhibition cities globally.
“With its strategic vision, comprehensive infrastructure, and collaboration between the government and enterprises, I am confident that Vietnam, with its top 10 exhibition facility in the world, will emerge as a leading international event hub in the region and beyond,” affirmed Ms. Ramona Fischer, representative of GL EVENTS, a leading international company in the event industry and consultant for this exhibition.
