Extending his warmest congratulations to the people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th National Day, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Ha Wei emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam has led the Vietnamese people to the great victory of the August Revolution, officially declaring the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945. That was a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of the nation’s journey towards national liberation, unification, and the pursuit of socialism. He affirmed that China – the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam – will continue to foster the “comradeship and brotherhood” friendship.

Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh opined that Vietnam’s 80-year journey has been arduous but glorious, from the struggle for independence to the building of a dynamic and deeply integrated economy. She was impressed by Vietnam’s political and social stability, considering it a significant advantage for development. “The achievements over the past 80 years have shaped an independent and self-reliant Vietnam, serving as an inspiration for many developing countries, especially Laos,” she emphasized.

Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam highlighted that, looking back on 80 glorious years, the Vietnamese people have much to be proud of. They have bravely overcome challenges and attained remarkable socio-economic achievements, becoming a source of inspiration for the world. Sharing the joy, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis recalled that in 1945, the UN Charter was born as a “declaration of hope,” just two months before Vietnam’s independence declaration. Vietnam’s independence is not just a historical event but also a global symbol of the yearning for freedom.
