Ho Chi Minh City welcomed approximately 1.45 million tourists during the four-day holiday from August 30 to September 2, according to the city’s Tourism Department. This figure includes an estimated 45,600 international arrivals. The average room occupancy rate during this period was around 87%.

Notably, this extended holiday saw many entertainment and tourist attractions in the city offering stimulus packages and discounts to encourage local tourism.

In the city center, accommodation and tourism service providers, as well as entertainment venues, took the initiative to attract tourists with various promotions. Hotels offered discounts ranging from 15% to 45%, along with complimentary breakfasts, service vouchers, and early bird or group booking specials.

Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens waived entry fees after 5 PM daily; Suoi Tien Theme Park opened at night with a 50% discount for evening visitors; and the metro ride from Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien was free on September 2…

Restaurants, entertainment venues, and shopping malls simultaneously launched “golden hour promotions,” service combos, and discounts of 10-50% on thousands of products, coupled with lucky draws, providing diverse experiences for visitors.

Airlines also increased flights during this holiday period to cater to the surge in domestic travel. Vietjet Air, in particular, added approximately 10,000 seats across nearly 50 flights.

Various entertainment and shopping venues in Ho Chi Minh City offered significant discounts on tickets and services during the National Day holiday.

According to the Tourism Department, although the city was not the center of the National Day celebrations, it hosted numerous cultural and artistic events to mark the occasion, attracting tourists. Tours to historical sites associated with the Saigon Underground and President Ho Chi Minh’s journey to seek national salvation were especially popular.

Travel companies also designed well-received city tours, such as the walking tour to explore iconic landmarks like the Central Post Office, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and Independence Palace; the open-top double-decker bus experience; the sky-high adventure at Landmark 81 SkyView; and the dinner cruise on the Saigon River. The Water Bus, offering a unique perspective of the city from the river, was another favorite.

Beyond the city center, two prominent destinations for holidaymakers were the beaches in Vung Tau Ward and its neighboring wards. The beaches, along with water sports and recreational activities like jet skiing and kayaking, buzzed with excitement, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of this coastal city. The newly renovated Bãi Sau Park further attracted a large number of visitors to Vung Tau during the National Day holiday.

Binh Duong Ward also drew significant interest with its “Anh Sao Doc Lap” (Independent Star) art program held at the Central Park. Other popular attractions in Binh Duong included the Bach Dang Walking Street, Thu Dau Mot Night Market, Thanh Le Park, Dau Tieng Lake, and Thuy Chau Tourist Area.

On the evening of September 2, Ho Chi Minh City organized fireworks displays at four locations, including three high-range sites at the Saigon River Tunnel entrance (in An Khanh Ward), the new urban area (in Binh Duong Ward), and the Bãi Sau Square (in Vung Tau Ward), along with a low-range display at Dam Sen Cultural Park.
