Furukawa Automotive Systems Expands Operations in Vietnam with a $97.1 Million Investment

Since 2020, Furukawa Automotive Systems has invested and operated the first two phases of the project, totaling over $86 million.

According to the investor, the third phase of the project entails an investment of $97.1 million (equivalent to over 2,555 billion VND) and will be constructed on an area spanning over 26,400 square meters. It will encompass factory buildings, auxiliary facilities, and a synchronized technical infrastructure system.

The project is expected to be completed by November 2026 and officially commence operations in early 2027. Upon completion, the factory’s total production capacity will reach 11,113 tons of products annually, with estimated export revenue surpassing $200 million. Notably, this phase will create an additional 2,000 to 2,500 new jobs for local workers, addressing employment needs and improving the income and living standards of the populace.

It is understood that since 2020, Furukawa Automotive Systems has invested in and operated the previous two phases of the project, totaling over $86 million. These phases encompass a construction area of nearly 7 hectares, producing more than 7,400 tons of automotive wiring, exporting nearly $160 million worth of products, and providing stable employment for over 5,000 local workers.

The expansion of the factory will boost the development of the auxiliary industry, presenting local businesses with opportunities to further integrate into the global value chain in automotive component manufacturing, thereby elevating Vinh Long’s stature in Vietnam’s industrial landscape.

In alignment with the development plan for industrial parks and clusters (IP, IZs) in Vinh Long province for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050 (integrated into the approved planning of Vinh Long province), 9 IZs have been planned for the 2021-2030 phase, spanning a total area of 535.16 hectares. Of these, 3 IZs have been established, covering 151.54 hectares, while the remaining IZs are open for investment.

Consequently, post-merger, Vinh Long province has planned the development of 31 IZs, encompassing a total area of 1,655.86 hectares. Among these, 4 IZs are already operational, spanning 188.98 hectares: the Trung Nghia IZ (specializing in energy) with 47.98 hectares, the Phong Nam ISC with 72 hectares, the Town – An Duc ISC with 36 hectares, and the Tan Thanh Binh ISC with 33 hectares.

The remaining IZs are expeditiously finalizing procedures, preparing infrastructure, and actively inviting investment.
