The coastal road project in Hung Yen province spans over 34km with a total investment of nearly VND 5,000 billion. This vital route connects Thai Binh Economic Zone with neighboring key economic regions and is part of the master plan for the North-South coastal road (a 550km road passing through 6 provinces from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa).

The project is implemented through a public-private partnership, with a BOT contract. Construction began in 2019 and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2025. Many sections of the route have already been finished and put into use.

The road surface is asphalted, with clear lane markings. A sturdy steel barrier system is installed on both sides to ensure traffic safety.

The road is designed with four lanes, including dedicated lanes for cars, motorcycles, and non-motorized vehicles. Trees are planted along the road to provide a green landscape, enhance the environment, and act as a windbreak.

The completion of this project will not only improve transportation infrastructure and form a vital coastal road for socio-economic development and climate change adaptation but also significantly contribute to the growth of the Thai Binh Economic Zone.

The route includes several completed bridges over rivers, such as Tra Ly 1 and Tra Ly 2.

The Hong (Red) River Bridge, located at the end of the route, connects Hung Phu commune in Hung Yen province (formerly Tien Hai district in Thai Binh province) and Giao Minh commune in Ninh Binh province (formerly Giao Thuy district in Nam Dinh province). As the last bridge to be completed in the coastal road project in Hung Yen province, it is considered the most important structure along the entire route.

The bridge features a modern design and a sturdy structure, equipped with standardized railing and lighting systems to ensure safety.

Some sections of the Hung Yen coastal road have been initially completed with asphalt paving but are awaiting the installation of lane markings, barriers, signs, and traffic signals.

Traffic islands at intersections with provincial and district roads are being constructed at a rapid pace.

Workers are actively completing the final items, including landscaping work on the traffic islands at intersections with provincial roads and local roads.

A completed section of the route features four lanes, an asphalt surface, and a sturdy steel barrier system on both sides.

Traffic barriers are installed at intersections with local roads to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.

According to the Project Management Board, the entire gravel layer has been completed, and approximately 3km of the lower asphalt concrete layer and 13km of the upper asphalt concrete layer are currently under construction. Simultaneously, the unit is working on road signage such as marker posts, traffic signs, and lane markings.

The investor and contractor are mobilizing all resources and increasing construction crews to accelerate the project’s progress.

It is expected that the entire road surface will be completed by September 15, and the entire project will be finished by September 20.

Once operational, this route will significantly reduce travel time from Thai Binh Economic Zone to Hai Phong to just 40 minutes, Cat Bi Airport to 55 minutes, and Lach Huyen International Port to 60 minutes. It will take only 90 minutes to reach Ha Long (Quang Ninh), compared to 2.5 hours previously; 150 minutes to reach Van Don Airport, and 180 minutes to Mong Cai border gate.
