Updates on the River Co Co Dredging Project in Quang Nam

On September 4th, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, Director of the Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Projects in Quang Nam (referred to as the Quang Nam Transport Project Management Board, under the People’s Committee of Da Nang), shared that they are finalizing procedures for the second auction round for the dredged sand volume of the river Co Co dredging project.

Storage site for dredged sand from the Co Co River

Previously, the Quang Nam Transport Project Management Board had approved the auction results for the sand material used for filling after dredging in the project “Emergency Dredging, Flood Discharge, and Salinity Prevention of Co Co River in Hoi An City” (referred to as the Co Co River dredging project).

According to the results, the auctioned assets consisted of 344,000 cubic meters of sand from two lots at sites B1 and B3. The total auction price was over VND 49.7 billion.

The winning bidder was Construction Investment Joint Stock Company 40, located in Binh Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

As shared by the Quang Nam Transport Project Management Board, the total dredging volume according to the design of the Co Co River dredging project is about 1.3 million cubic meters. So far, more than 700,000 cubic meters of sand have been extracted, with 344,000 cubic meters sold in the first phase. The remaining volume is being prepared for sale.

Currently, the dredging project has been temporarily halted due to construction site clearance issues and the lack of storage space for the dredged sand.

Previously, the former Quang Nam Province had put up the entire volume of dredged sand for auction, but there were no participants after multiple attempts. As a result, Quang Nam Province divided the volume into smaller lots and successfully auctioned the first batch as mentioned above.
