Smoke still billowed from the factory on the morning of September 7th.
Earlier, at around 6:00 PM on September 6th, the Hanoi Police received a report of a fire at a factory within the Thong Nhat Match Factory compound on Ngo Gia Tu Street, Viet Hung, Hanoi.
The Hanoi Police promptly dispatched Team 1, 18, and 19 of the Fire Fighting and Rescue Police with 8 fire trucks and nearly 50 officers to the scene.
At the scene, authorities identified the fire’s location as the 1,000-square-meter umbrella manufacturing workshop of Olasen Vietnam Joint Stock Company. The structure was made of steel frames, brick walls, and corrugated iron roofs.
The fire quickly spread and posed a risk of engulfing the entire factory and nearby residential areas. The primary combustible materials were fabric, plastic, and cardboard.
The Fire Fighting and Rescue Police immediately sourced water and deployed multiple attack points to contain the fire. They also coordinated with local authorities to mobilize excavators to demolish collapsed structures and water tankers to supply water for firefighting and create access to extinguish the blaze.
During the firefighting process, the Traffic Police, local police, and security forces collaborated to manage traffic flow and maintain order.
By 8:00 PM on the same day, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Police had successfully extinguished the fire.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire is believed to have originated from the air conditioner located within the factory.
Soon after, the flames rapidly intensified and spread across the factory’s surface.
Several nearby residences were affected by the intense heat from the fire. Many potted plants on the balconies of a house located 4 meters from the fire were scorched.
The factory was located adjacent to residential areas.
The corrugated iron roof of the factory was completely deformed and collapsed.
A hole was punched in the wall to aid in firefighting efforts.
The fire occurred in an area of 700 square meters, which included an umbrella manufacturing company and a warehouse for old furniture.
