A Week of Declines: Coffee Prices Down 9,400 VND/kg

Compared to the previous week, domestic coffee prices have dropped by 9,400 VND/kg, or 7.7%.

During the same period, Robusta prices fell by up to 506 USD/ton to 4,309 USD/ton, a decline of 10.5%.

Domestic coffee prices have held up better than the plummeting global coffee prices.

Coffee prices witnessed a sharp decline on the exchanges last week, baffling many traders after a month of soaring prices.

Fortunately, Vietnam’s coffee export prices for the first eight months of the year remain high, averaging 5,580 USD/ton, a 46.4% increase from last year. Although this figure includes processed coffee (roasted, instant, etc.), it still stands as a record high for green coffee beans alone.

Vietnam Loses Market Share in Australia

According to the International Trade Center (ITC), in the first half of 2025, Australia imported 62.7 thousand tons of coffee, worth 475.1 million USD, an increase of 14.4% in volume and 59.5% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

Vietnam was the second-largest supplier to the Australian market, with a volume of 6.8 thousand tons and a value of 38.4 million USD, a decrease of 32.6% in volume but an increase of 12.9% in value compared to the first half of 2024.

Global Coffee Price Movement This Week

Vietnam’s market share in Australia’s total coffee imports decreased from 18.4% in the first half of 2024 to 10.9% in the first half of 2025.

Australians consume an average of 1.9 kg of coffee per year, with instant coffee accounting for three-quarters of total consumption.

The pressure of living costs has significantly shifted consumption habits, with many opting for home brewing instead of café visits. The market outlook remains positive due to high demand, the popularity of premium instant coffee, and the convenience of such products.
