On September 4th, the Management Board of Regional and Agricultural Transport Projects in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, under the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, collaborated with the representative of the joint venture contractor, Trungnam E&C (a member of Trungnam Group), and relevant units to organize the First Cable Tensioning Ceremony for the Phuoc An Bridge Project.

The Phuoc An Bridge is a key national transport infrastructure project, directly connecting the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port area (Ho Chi Chi Minh City) with the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway (Dong Nai province).

Upon completion, the project will shorten the distance for goods transportation to the Western region of Southern Vietnam by nearly 30 kilometers, reducing the burden on National Highway 51. It will also contribute to completing the national logistics system and boosting the economic development of the region.

The Phuoc An Bridge Project has a total length of over 4.7 kilometers, including a 3.5-kilometer bridge, a 247-meter approach road, and a 617-meter road connecting to the Phuoc An port road. It also includes improvements to the intersection with the road leading to the Phuoc An port.

The main bridge spans over 1 kilometer, with a span of 250 meters between the two main pillars, the largest in Southeast Asia as of now.

Designed with a width of 27 meters for the main bridge and 23.5 meters for the approach bridge, the bridge accommodates six lanes, including four vehicle lanes and two mixed lanes, allowing for a design speed of 70 kilometers per hour.

The project ensures a navigable height for ships with a cargo capacity of 30,000 DWT, featuring a width of 135 meters and a height of 55 meters, the largest in Vietnam, in compliance with international shipping standards.

Phuoc An Bridge, along with Binh Khanh Bridge of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway project, is among the bridges with the highest navigable height in Vietnam.

With a total investment of approximately VND 4,879 billion, the project commenced in June 2023. The Management Board of the Cai Mep – Thi Vai Port Area Transport Projects, the investor of the Phuoc An Bridge Project, shared that contractors are undertaking multiple construction fronts to complete the two main pillars and spans.

As of mid-April 2025, the project has completed over 60% of the construction volume and is expected to be finished six months ahead of schedule, by the end of 2026 (initially planned for May 2027).
