Grab Vietnam’s Official Statement
On September 4th, Grab Vietnam issued an official statement regarding market research reports on the taxi industry in Vietnam conducted by Mordor Intelligence, an Indian-based market research and consulting firm, in Q4 2024, Q1 2025, and Q2 2025.
Grab Vietnam Requests Retraction
Grab Vietnam asserts that they have never discussed or provided any business information, transaction data, or market assessments to Mordor Intelligence or any third party.
Therefore, the company distances itself from and does not endorse the accuracy or content of the aforementioned reports.
Over the past few months, Grab Vietnam has been in direct communication with Mordor Intelligence to gain a deeper understanding of the source data and survey methodologies used. They have also requested that Mordor Intelligence re-evaluate and improve their research methods.

Grab Vietnam has sent an official legal notice to Mordor Intelligence, requesting the retraction of the aforementioned reports.
The reports primarily rely on assumptions and estimates of the overall transaction value (GMV) of taxi companies, from which they deduce GMV for the passenger taxi business, and further segregate GMV for two-wheeler and four-wheeler services. These estimates are made without verifiable or reliable data sources.
Additionally, Grab points out that these assumptions and estimates are based on information from select former employees of these companies, labeled as “experts” by Mordor Intelligence, through online interviews, which may have resulted in outdated information.
“Based on these factors, we have reason to believe that Mordor Intelligence’s reports on Vietnam’s passenger taxi market have utilized unverifiable data sources and incomplete research methodologies, leading to misleading conclusions. This could potentially confuse consumers, send inaccurate signals to the market, and misguide stakeholders towards inefficient business directions,” Grab Vietnam states.
Grab Vietnam has sent an official legal notice to Mordor Intelligence, requesting the retraction of the aforementioned reports for re-evaluation and improvement of their research methodology. They have also urged Mordor Intelligence to support their conclusions with reliable and verifiable market data and sources.
