The HiteJinro Group, a leading player in South Korea’s beverage industry, is constructing its first soju production facility outside of South Korea in Hung Yen province, just outside Hanoi.

This project is located in the Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park (Thai Binh Economic Zone), with Green i-Park as the infrastructure investor. The project has an investment scale of over $100 million and covers an area of approximately 8.2 hectares.

This project not only marks a significant step in HiteJinro’s global expansion strategy but also represents the first time the Group has built a factory outside of South Korea. According to plans, the project aims to be completed and operational by Q2 2026.

During a recent meeting with Hung Yen provincial leaders, HiteJinro expressed its desire for continued support in infrastructure, administrative procedures, and a skilled workforce to ensure the project’s timely completion. The Group also aims to make Hung Yen a center for soju production and export to multiple countries.

The Group has committed to constructing an environmentally friendly factory, with efficient energy management and reduced carbon emissions, contributing to the sustainable development of the locality.

The Hung Yen authorities affirmed their commitment to creating favorable conditions for the project’s early operation, generating employment, revenue, and promoting economic restructuring.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee met with representatives of the HiteJinro Group from South Korea.

HiteJinro is a world-leading producer of soju and other alcoholic beverages from South Korea. The Group was established in 1924 through the merger of two major companies, Hite (a brewery) and Jinro (a soju company).

Well-known products from this company include Jinro Soju and Hite Beer. The Group’s products account for more than half of the sales in the Korean market. Currently, HiteJinro has 62 domestic branches, 6 subsidiaries, and 6 affiliated companies overseas.

Regarding the choice of Vietnam as its overseas production base, the Group, in a statement last October, cited geographical location, cost, logistics access, and abundant human resources as key factors. Notably, the former Thai Binh province, located in northern Vietnam, borders Hanoi and is equipped with comprehensive infrastructure, including an international airport, seaport, and coastal roads.

According to the latest environmental report, the project will produce distilled soju and fruit-flavored soju (peach, grape, plum, grapefruit, etc.) with an annual capacity of 70 million liters.

The company representative affirmed that the soju factory in Vietnam would serve as a bridge for HiteJinro’s global soju business, a liquor dubbed “Korea’s national drink.”

Over the past six years, HiteJinro’s soju exports have grown by an average of about 15% annually. The Group is focusing on investing in the Southeast Asian market, aiming to triple its overseas sales by 2030.
