“**CIC** Under Attack: Vigilance Urged as Vietnam’s Credit Information System is Breached**”**

The State Bank of Vietnam (**NHNN**) has issued a statement regarding the recent breach of **CIC**, one of four authorized credit information service providers in the country. **CIC** collects credit information excluding details such as deposit accounts, savings accounts, payment accounts, debit and credit card numbers, CVV/CVC codes, and transaction histories.
**NHNN** assures that the technology systems of credit institutions are operating independently and securely. They have directed all credit organizations to rigorously review and adhere to legal requirements for information security and customer protection.
Illegal collection, processing, exploitation, exchange, or provision of credit information will be strictly dealt with according to the law. Customers are advised to follow official guidelines and recommendations to safeguard their personal information and prevent malicious activities like phishing and fraud.
