“State Bank: CIC Doesn’t Expose Customer Account Numbers, Balances, or CVV Codes”

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has received a report from the Vietnam Credit Information Center (CIC) regarding an incident related to credit information at the CIC. The SBV has promptly directed the CIC to report and closely coordinate with relevant state authorities to investigate and address the issue, while also ensuring the continuous and smooth operation of the CIC.

“**CIC Under Attack: Safeguarding Your Financial Data**”

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has announced that CIC is one of the four authorized credit information service providers in the country. It is important to note that the credit information collected by CIC, as per legal regulations, **does not include** details such as deposit accounts, account balances, savings accounts, payment accounts, debit or credit card numbers, security codes (CVV/CVC), or customers’ payment transaction history.

The SBV has consistently directed and mandated financial institutions to strengthen their scrutiny and compliance with legal provisions related to information technology system security, secrecy, and safety, thereby safeguarding customers’ rights and lawful interests.

Any unauthorized collection, processing, exploitation, exchange, or provision of credit information will be subject to legal penalties.

Customers are advised to adhere to legal regulations and follow the recommendations of official authorities to ensure their safety and security. They should also follow the guidelines and advice of financial institutions to protect their rights and prevent malicious actors from exploiting their personal information for fraud, phishing, or asset appropriation.
