“Tech for Good: How ‘Make in Vietnam’ is Empowering a Nation of Volunteers”

Launched in 2021, under the guidance of the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Vietnam Red Cross Society and other political-social organizations, the Volunteer Platform developed by Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) has ushered in a new era for community volunteering in the digital age.

Designed as a miniature social network, users can easily launch fundraising campaigns and own transparent charity accounts with automatic reconciliation and real-time updates.

The Charity Platform conveys a message of “Data Guides, Hearts Connect.”

Over four years of operation, the Charity Platform has become a digital-era “bridge of compassion,” trusted by prominent organizations such as the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the National Volunteer Center, the Vietnam Children’s Fund, the Vietnam Fund for Disabled Children, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Martyrs’ Families, and the Vietnam Association for Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims. Acclaimed social activists and reputable individuals in resource mobilization, such as the Nuoi Em project owner and the Nhu Chua He Co Cuoc Chia Ly project, are also among its trusted users.

With over 2 million patriotic Vietnamese users willing to share and contribute to the community, along with approximately 2,000 reputable organizations and individuals accompanying large-scale fundraising campaigns, the platform has witnessed remarkable achievements. In the five years since its launch in 2020, more than 7,750 fundraising campaigns have been initiated, ranging from supporting disaster-stricken people, underprivileged students, and patients in need to environmental protection initiatives. The total amount of contributions has reached nearly VND 2,000 billion, reflecting the immense trust placed in this humanitarian digital platform.

Beyond fundraising, the Charity Platform has also digitized thousands of underprivileged cases on a digital map, enabling the community to directly access and provide timely support. Philanthropists can search for transparent charitable campaigns and addresses, track their donations, and receive real-time updates on campaign progress with detailed reports and images. They can also send direct messages to express their encouragement and compassion.

The most remarkable impact is evident in national-scale programs. During the “65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship” fundraising drive, the Charity Platform surpassed the minimum target of VND 65 billion in just two days, and the amount quickly escalated to over VND 400 billion with millions of contributions. These funds were promptly transferred by MB as per the Vietnam Red Cross Society’s requirements, ensuring transparency and fulfilling the purpose of the campaign during the visit of Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary and President of Cuba, to Vietnam.

Similarly, the HiGreen Truong Sa Xanh campaign, with the message “A Million Green Landmarks – Pillars of Trust,” is expected to garner stronger support from organizations and individuals at home and abroad, united towards the goal of 1 million green trees symbolizing 1 million beliefs sent to the soldiers and people of Truong Sa. After more than four months of implementation, MB has connected and mobilized the accompaniment of more than 60,000 organizations and individuals, with over 70,000 contributions, totaling approximately VND 75 billion.

Although rarely having the opportunity to set foot on Truong Sa, each Vietnamese can “become” a naval soldier, contributing trees that overcome the waves to reach the distant islands.

Recently, the Charity Platform was nominated for the World Summit Awards 2025. This global award seeks to recognize and promote digital innovations that positively impact society locally and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

The success of the Charity Platform is further amplified by the advantages of MB’s digital ecosystem. With nearly 33 million customers regularly using the MBBank app, of which over 98% of transactions are conducted entirely on digital platforms, humanitarian campaigns can swiftly reach a broad audience. This not only underscores MB’s technological capabilities and digital vision but also contributes to realizing sustainable development goals, where technology becomes a bridge of compassion.

In the future, MB is committed to continuously developing the Charity Platform as a societal digital infrastructure, accompanying welfare programs, international cooperation, and sustainable development goals. Every humanitarian value propagated through this platform will testify to a steadfast commitment: leaving no one behind on the journey towards community development and the nation’s progress.
