The Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) has released the sales figures for August 2025. Notably, the rankings of hybrid vehicle models have seen significant shifts.

Leading the pack, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS has surprisingly claimed the top spot for the first time, with 267 units sold. This figure even surpasses the sales of its gasoline counterpart, which recorded 216 units. Compared to the previous month, the CR-V e:HEV RS experienced a robust growth, selling 126 more units, equivalent to an 89.36% increase.

The Honda CR-V e:HEV RS tops the hybrid sales chart in August 2025.

In second place, the Toyota Innova Cross HEV saw a significant drop in sales. While it recorded 318 units in July 2025, last month’s sales plummeted to 221 units, a decrease of 97 units or 30.50%.

The next two positions are held by the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid and Toyota Corolla Cross HEV. The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid sold 219 units, an increase of 35 units (19.02%) from the previous month. Meanwhile, the Corolla Cross recorded 219 units delivered, a decline of 20 units compared to the previous month.

Another notable surprise is the impressive growth of the Toyota Yaris Cross HEV. This B-segment CUV sold 135 units in August 2025, a 2.25-fold increase from the previous month’s 60 units.

Similar to the CR-V e:HEV RS, two other models—the Toyota Camry HEV and Honda Civic e:HEV RS—saw higher sales for their hybrid versions compared to their traditional gasoline counterparts. The Camry HEV sold 113 units, nearly double the 62 units of the gasoline version. The Civic e:HEV RS, a C-segment sedan, sold 33 units, 1.5 times more than the 22 units of its gasoline variant.

Other hybrid models in August 2025 include the Honda HR-V e:HEV RS with 64 units, Toyota Alphard HEV with 17 units, Kia Sorento HEV/PHEV with 11 units, and the Toyota Corolla Altis HEV, which remains at the bottom with only 4 units delivered.

Overall, the hybrid vehicle segment recorded 1,302 units sold in August, up from 1,186 units in the previous month.

Currently, the Car Choice Awards 2025 is in its second phase, with exciting developments. In the Hybrid Car of the Year category, five models are competing. Leading the race is the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS with over 9,500 votes, followed by the BYD Sealion 6, Toyota Corolla Cross HEV, Toyota Camry HEV, and Honda Civic e:HEV RS.
