This tender encompasses the construction of the main structure, external infrastructure, and equipment installation for Cargo Terminal 1 and auxiliary facilities. The contract execution period is 330 days.

With an annual cargo handling capacity of 550,000 tons, this component plays a pivotal role in air freight operations, befitting Long Thanh—Southeast Asia’s premier large-scale airport. The project ensures timely and scaled operations as per ACV’s plan, establishing Long Thanh as a regional cargo transit hub.

Spanning 8.4 hectares with a 30-meter height, Package 7.8 demands advanced steel-concrete solutions and synchronized, urgent execution within 330 days, including holidays. This tight schedule and technical complexity pose significant challenges for construction firms.

Coteccons Consortium, leveraging its complementary strengths, was selected to ensure project quality and timelines. Over the years, Coteccons has proven its expertise in large-scale aviation infrastructure, including Tan Son Nhat Cargo Terminal, Noi Bai T2 Terminal, and recently, Package 11.5 at Long Thanh (parking facility, valued at over $1.3 billion). Beyond aviation, Coteccons contributes to key public projects like Luong Hoa – Binh Chanh Road, Thuy Van Axis Upgrade (Vung Tau), and Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The consortium’s strength lies in its trio: Coteccons (21+ years as a general contractor), Hancorp (aviation infrastructure specialist), and ATAD (steel structure leader).

According to the Global Infrastructure Hub, Vietnam requires $25 billion annually over the next 20 years, primarily for transportation. Coteccons is strategically expanding its market share, targeting public investment and mega-projects like highways, railways, and metros. Winning Package 7.8 marks a milestone in its public investment diversification strategy, driving sustainable growth.

In Q4 2025, Coteccons reported robust growth, exceeding profit targets and securing a backlog of $13.7 billion, positioning it strongly for 2026. Vo Hoang Lam, Deputy CEO, stated, “Public investment and infrastructure present a vast opportunity for Vietnam’s construction sector. Coteccons aims to make this a strategic pillar alongside civil projects, ensuring diversified revenue and long-term growth.”

The Long Thanh International Airport, located in Dong Nai Province, has a $16 billion investment. Phase 1 (2026) targets 25 million passengers annually with $5.45 billion. Phase 2 (2028–2032) doubles capacity to 50 million. Phase 3 (post-2035) aims for 100 million passengers, making it Vietnam’s largest airport.
