In court, the defendant admitted to all the criminal acts as charged in the indictment. However, the judges deemed it necessary to further clarify the actions of Phạm Thị Cúc, who lent Trang three bank accounts to receive funds related to Trang’s criminal activities. Consequently, the court decided to return the case for additional investigation to determine the responsibilities of all involved parties.
The indictment revealed that over nearly 7 years, Trang exploited the trust of principals at two public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City to embezzle more than 18.7 billion VND.

Specifically, Trang served as an accountant at N.T.M.K High School from November 2016 to February 2022. Noticing the principal’s lack of financial expertise, Trang created a set of documents, including two payment orders: the first fully detailed for the principal’s signature, and the second with only the amount and general content, which she later altered to list Phạm Thị Cúc, an acquaintance, as the beneficiary. Once the money entered Cúc’s account, Trang requested cash withdrawals and had it delivered to herself. The indictment stated that Trang’s method was so sophisticated that even during financial audits, the principal failed to detect any irregularities. Over time, Trang successfully embezzled over 5.1 billion VND.
Later, Trang was transferred to T.L.M. High School. There, she continued her scheme, exploiting the principal’s absence due to work or illness. She used the school’s signature stamp and seal to forge hundreds of payment orders, transferring funds from the school’s account to her personal account and Cúc’s account. From April 2022 to February 2024, Trang embezzled more than 13.6 billion VND.
