On September 16th, Honda officially unveiled its new electric motorcycle, the Honda WN7, in the European market. This marks Honda’s first Naked-style electric bike in its “Fun” lineup. The name WN7 is derived from “Be the Wind” (W), “Naked” (N), and the number “7,” which signifies its power class.

The Honda WN7 has officially launched in Europe.

According to Honda, the WN7 boasts a range of over 130 km on a single charge, utilizing a fixed lithium-ion battery instead of the removable type found on some of its entry-level models. Notably, the WN7 supports fast charging via the CCS2 standard, commonly used in electric cars, allowing it to charge from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Additionally, users can charge the bike at home using a standard power outlet, with a full charge taking less than three hours. Honda emphasizes that the WN7 is optimized for urban commuting and short-distance travel.

The Honda WN7 is touted to match the power of a 1000cc bike.

In terms of performance, the WN7 is said to rival a 600cc gasoline engine in power and a 1000cc bike in torque, though Honda hasn’t released specific figures for horsepower or torque.

The bike’s design is sleek and futuristic, setting it apart from traditional internal combustion engine models.

Beyond its performance, the WN7 features a 5-inch TFT display and integrates with the Honda RoadSync app, allowing riders to monitor vehicle information and control basic functions via their smartphones.

Honda states that the WN7’s launch is part of its motorcycle electrification roadmap, contributing to the company’s environmental strategy to achieve carbon neutrality for all motorcycle products by 2040.

Honda has not yet disclosed pricing details for the WN7.

The Honda WN7 offers a maximum range of approximately 130 km.

In Vietnam, Honda has not announced plans to introduce the WN7. However, the domestic market features a similar electric sports bike, the Nuen N1-S, which was officially launched in August 2024 and is nearing delivery to its first customers.

The Nuen N1-S is developed and manufactured by a Vietnamese company.

Compared to the Honda WN7, the Nuen N1-S also falls into the electric sports bike category. In terms of power, the N1-S delivers approximately 32 horsepower, equivalent to a 300cc bike, but with nearly double the torque of the Honda CB1000 Hornet (190 Nm vs. 101 Nm).

The N1-S also supports ultra-fast charging, fully charging in 60 minutes using a 3-phase DC charger, with a range of 200 km per charge.

The Nuen N1-S is set to be delivered to customers soon.

Compared to the Nuen N1-S, the Honda WN7 has a shorter range but offers slightly faster charging and smart connectivity. Conversely, the N1-S provides clear specifications for power, torque, and features, while the WN7 offers only relative descriptions.

As Honda, a long-established brand known for its internal combustion engine bikes, ventures into electric motorcycles, it must proceed cautiously in the face of strong competition from new entrants like Nuen.
