The Ministry of Construction has issued an urgent directive to the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, National Assembly Delegation, and People’s Committee, urging them to accelerate compensation, support, and resettlement efforts for the Ho Chi Minh Highway project, specifically the Rach Soi – Ben Nhat – Go Quao – Vinh Thuan section.
This segment is one of the final four sections needed to complete the entire Ho Chi Minh Highway. Spanning nearly 52 kilometers, the project is managed by the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board, with construction commencing in March 2024 and a target completion date of late 2025.

Despite repeated requests, land clearance remains slow, according to the Ministry of Construction. Over 2 kilometers of land and the Canh Den bridge are yet to be handed over due to 89 households’ disagreement with the approved compensation plan. Additionally, disputes have arisen over overlapping compensation areas between this project and the previous National Highway 61 upgrade, with several households refusing compensation due to ongoing land disputes.
The Ministry of Construction calls on An Giang to decisively resolve these issues by September, ensuring full land handover and completion of the three resettlement areas. The agency also directs the Project Management Board to collaborate closely with local authorities, mobilizing machinery, equipment, and manpower to commence construction immediately upon land receipt, ensuring quality and timely completion.
The Ho Chi Minh Highway’s Rach Soi – Ben Nhat – Go Quao – Vinh Thuan section spans nearly 52 kilometers, with a total investment of over 3.9 trillion VND from the state budget. Designed for two lanes at 80 km/h, the road has a 12-meter-wide foundation, set to expand to four lanes with a 22.5-meter foundation in the final phase.
