The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has issued a directive to implement Resolution No. 389 of the City Council, adjusting the investment policy for the construction of the Thới An – Thạnh Xuân Link Road (Route 2) in District 12 (formerly).

The project spans nearly 4.5 km with a width of 40 meters, featuring 6 lanes, and a total investment of over VND 3,563 billion. The city plans to reclaim land from 299 households, including 222 fully cleared households and 77 partially affected ones. In addition to the main route, the project includes a 200-meter connection to Lê Thị Riêng Street, with a width of 30 meters.

According to the plan, compensation, support, and resettlement activities will take place from Q1 to Q4/2026; contractor selection is scheduled for Q3 and Q4/2026; groundbreaking is set for late 2026, with completion expected by the end of 2027.

To expedite the project, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has tasked the Project Management Unit for Traffic Works Investment and Construction with collaborating with the Thới An Ward People’s Committee to promptly adjust the zoning plan, ensuring alignment with approved master plans. They must also develop a detailed work plan, implementation schedule, and monthly disbursement plan, adhering to regulations and approved timelines. Any challenges beyond their authority should be promptly reported to relevant authorities for resolution.

The Department of Construction is responsible for overseeing and inspecting the project to ensure compliance with legal regulations on public investment, budget, land, construction, and bidding.

The Department of Finance will advise on capital allocation, while the Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate guidance on compensation and land clearance. The Thới An Ward People’s Committee must complete zoning adjustments and updates, submitting them for approval by October 30, 2025.

The City People’s Committee urges relevant departments and units to accelerate public investment disbursement, ensure efficient budget use, and regularly monitor and supervise the project to guarantee timely completion.

The Thới An – Thạnh Xuân Link Road project is expected to establish a vital transportation axis in the northwestern gateway, helping to distribute traffic flow, alleviate pressure on existing routes, and reduce congestion on National Highway 1, from Bình Phước Intersection to Ga Intersection.
