On September 19th, pepper prices in Gia Lai and Dong Nai remained at 147,000 VND/kg, the lowest among key regions. In Ho Chi Minh City, traders purchased at 149,000 VND/kg, while Lam Dong held steady at 151,000 VND/kg. In the Central Highlands, Dak Lak reached 150,000 VND/kg, continuing to lead the higher price bracket.

Thus, domestic pepper prices currently range from 147,000 to 151,000 VND/kg, reflecting market stability after alternating periods of increase and decrease. Experts predict short-term prices will fluctuate between 148,000 and 155,000 VND/kg before potentially experiencing more significant shifts by year-end.

Internationally, updates from the International Pepper Community (IPC) indicate price adjustments in Indonesia. Specifically, Lampung black pepper decreased by 0.41% to $7,061/ton, while Muntok white pepper also dropped 0.41% to $10,006/ton.

Conversely, Brazil’s market maintained its prices, with ASTA 570 black pepper trading at $6,600/ton. In Malaysia, prices remained stable, with ASTA black pepper at $9,700/ton and ASTA white pepper at $12,900/ton.

Analysts suggest the global pepper market is in an accumulation phase, heavily influenced by weather conditions and year-end holiday import demand. If supply in Brazil and Indonesia faces challenges or demand surges, Vietnamese pepper prices could surpass 160,000 VND/kg. However, in a reverse scenario, pressure from transportation costs and farmer sell-offs might cause slight declines, though a sharp drop is considered unlikely.

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), domestic pepper prices may remain high if supply is limited and supported by increased imports for the year-end festive season.

To sustain export growth, businesses must focus on enhancing quality, meeting stringent quarantine and traceability requirements from premium markets. Vietnamese pepper enjoys a dual advantage: rising domestic prices and steady export momentum, coupled with stable international demand. This is seen as a positive sign after years of significant market volatility.
