However, amidst the majority who choose anonymity, there are exceptions. One notable example is Mr. Trần Nhật Khánh, who won over 112 billion VND from Vietlott.

The story of Mr. Trần Nhật Khánh, who publicly revealed his identity when claiming his Vietlott prize, caused a stir and became one of the most notable events in Vietnam’s lottery history.

Mr. Khánh won the Mega 6/45 Jackpot, a record-breaking prize of over 112.4 billion VND at the time, during the 69th draw in December 2016. What set him apart was his decision to claim the prize without a mask, fully revealing his face to the media—a stark contrast to most Vietlott winners before and after him.

When asked about his decision, Mr. Khánh explained that as an honest businessman, he had “won fairly and worked honestly,” with nothing to hide. He also mentioned being mentally prepared and confident that he wouldn’t face significant issues. Additionally, his success as an entrepreneur before winning the lottery likely contributed to his lack of concern about being bothered.

In 2017, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Hòa (Ho Chi Minh City) shared a similar perspective, stating that he won transparently and had nothing to conceal. Thus, when claiming his 20 billion VND Mega 6/45 Jackpot, he also chose not to wear a mask.

Similarly, Mr. Lê Văn Hiểu, who won nearly 24 billion VND in the 2019 Mega 6/45 Jackpot, also revealed his identity. When questioned about his decision, he expressed no concerns about its impact on his life. He also wished to share his joy with others and believed that going public would inspire hope in fellow players.

Mr. Hiểu purchased his lucky ticket at a store on Phan Văn Trị Street, Gò Vấp District, Ho Chi Minh City, during a business trip. He had a daily habit of buying lottery tickets but never expected to win such a significant prize.

Since Vietlott began operations in 2016, only a handful of winners have chosen to reveal their faces at the prize-claiming ceremony.

It wasn’t until 2025 that Vietlott saw more winners go public. Mr. Đỗ Quốc Dũng from Đồng Nai won nearly 10 billion VND, and Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Tùng won approximately 6.4 billion VND in the Lotto 5/35 game.

Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Tùng mentioned buying the winning ticket during a break at an overtime work session. Previously, his highest win was only 30,000 VND. When Vietlott staff called to inform him of his billion-VND win, he initially thought it was a scam call from abroad. It wasn’t until he received a bank notification confirming the prize money that he believed he had won.

Mr. Dũng, on the other hand, called the lottery hotline to verify his win after receiving a winning notification. He expressed his luck at winning nearly 10 billion VND and planned to “calmly consider how to use the prize money wisely.”

Vietlott Prize Claiming Regulations

Prize Claiming for Tickets Sold Through Terminal Distribution Channels: Vietlott states that for winning tickets valued up to 10 billion VND, Vietlott authorizes agents to handle prize distribution.

For winning tickets valued between 10 billion VND and under 70 billion VND, the branch managing the ticket issuance area is responsible for receiving prize claims and organizing prize distribution according to regulations.

For winning tickets valued at 70 billion VND or more, the Head Office is responsible for receiving prize claims and organizing prize distribution according to regulations.

Prize Claiming Regulations for Tickets Sold Through Phone Distribution Channels:

For winning tickets valued up to 10 million VND, agents must automatically transfer the prize to the winner’s registered account within 5 working days from the draw result announcement.

For winning tickets valued between 10 million VND and 10 billion VND: Agents must send a confirmation notice of prize transfer to the winner’s registered account via the participating account and/or SMS within 1 day after the draw result announcement. The payment must be completed within 5 working days from the winner’s account confirmation.

If the winner does not confirm their account or update it as instructed by the agent within 5 days of the notice, the agent must automatically transfer the prize to the winner’s registered account within the next 5 working days.

For winning tickets valued over 10 billion VND: The Head Office must receive the prize claim and organize prize distribution within 5 working days from receiving the request. If the winner requests prize distribution at a branch, the branch must handle the process.
