On the morning of September 15th, numerous sellers on the Shopee e-commerce platform reported an unusual surge in Voucher Xtra fees when reviewing their orders. In a seller community group, several members noted that their orders displayed double the usual fee, resulting in lower-than-expected earnings.
One seller remarked: “Since midnight, all my shop’s orders have been charged the Xtra fee twice, significantly reducing my wallet balance.”
Another shared: “The fees on my orders are unusually high, showing a substantial discrepancy compared to previous calculations.”
Meanwhile, a shop owner commented: “I had to repeatedly check to ensure it wasn’t an error on my end, but since many shops are affected, it’s likely a system issue.”
After receiving these reports, Shopee’s customer support confirmed that a system glitch caused the inaccurate deduction of Voucher Xtra fees. Shopee stated that their technical team is investigating and will soon notify affected accounts. The platform also requested sellers’ patience as they work to fully resolve the issue.

Shopee’s official statement reads: “Shopee acknowledges the issue causing inaccurate Voucher Xtra service fees on September 15th. We are working to rectify this and will refund any discrepancies within 30 working days from order completion.”
Under current policies, Shopee sellers must pay fees for programs like Voucher Xtra, fixed category fees, transaction fees, and optional advertising packages. These fees are publicly listed on the platform and may vary over time.
According to YouNet ECI, a leading e-commerce growth consulting firm, Shopee maintains its lead in Vietnam with a 55% market share. Meanwhile, TikTok Shop has surged from 32.5% to 42%, significantly closing the gap with Shopee. Together, these two platforms dominate 97% of Vietnam’s e-commerce market, followed by Lazada and Tiki.
