iPhone 17 Officially Launches in Vietnam, Thousands of Units Delivered to Customers on September 19th

Unlike previous years, when retailers often held midnight launches for new iPhones, this year’s release in Vietnam aligned with global markets. At 8:00 AM on September 19th, retailers began selling the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air simultaneously.

ShopDunk announced plans to deliver 3,000 units on launch day, predominantly the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Cosmic Orange, accounting for 89% of total sales.

FPT Shop and F.Studio by FPT also reported strong sales, with Deputy Director of Apple Products, Mr. Phan Tran Thanh, noting a significant increase in pre-orders compared to last year, particularly for the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air.

FPT Shop offered attractive promotions, including vouchers up to VND 8 million, comprising a VND 2.5 million accessory voucher with FPT SIM registration, a VND 2.5 million discount in partnership with banks, and up to VND 3 million trade-in support.

Vietnam joined leading markets like the US, Japan, China, and Singapore in the early launch, requiring retailers to expedite preparations from pre-orders to sales.

A ShopDunk representative described the situation as both challenging and opportunistic. “Despite the rushed preparations to align with markets like the US and Singapore, Vietnamese consumers will receive their devices earlier than ever,” they stated.

Surprisingly, the iPhone Air gained significant attention, reflecting a shift in consumer preferences toward sleek, lightweight, and fashionable models alongside the premium Pro Max series.

Retailers anticipate delivering thousands more units on September 19th and 20th. With pre-orders continuing to rise, they expect to process orders well into mid-October.

In previous years, limited stock led to price gouging and bundled accessory sales. This year, retailers aim to avoid such practices by ensuring sufficient supply.
