As of noon today, approximately 22,000 Tet train tickets have been sold, generating revenue of 44 billion VND. However, compared to previous years, the number of customers queuing at stations is noticeably thinner, indicating that many have embraced online ticket purchases.
Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of Saigon Railway Transport Branch, stated that ticket prices this year have increased by 5-10% due to the railway sector introducing 150 newly renovated and high-quality carriages into service.

Many passengers waiting to purchase Tet 2026 train tickets at Hanoi Station.
The highest ticket price in the system is 3.75 million VND for a soft sleeper berth on the first floor of a 4-berth compartment on the SE2 train for the Saigon – Hanoi route during peak times. In Tet 2025, the highest price was 3.234 million VND per berth.
Additionally, the price for a VIP 2-berth compartment is 7.35 million VND per berth, an increase of 350,000 VND compared to 2025.
Despite the price hike, the railway sector offers several attractive policies to support passengers, providing a total of approximately 330,000 seats throughout the Tet Binh Ngo 2026 transportation period.
Notable discount policies include: 5-15% off for early bookings (made 10 days in advance) on routes over 900km; 3% off for tickets departing from Saigon Station on the 28th of Tet for journeys over 1,000 km; 2-12% off for group tickets of 11 people or more; 5% off for round-trip tickets; and 10-20% off for students.
Furthermore, social policy beneficiaries, the elderly, and children (aged 6 to under 10) continue to enjoy regular discounts. However, passengers can only benefit from one discount level, with no cumulative discounts allowed.
Mr. Tuan also advises passengers to purchase tickets through official channels to avoid risks. It’s evident that despite the price increase, trains remain a preferred mode of transport for many, offering not just a means of travel but a meaningful journey home.
