The compact electric SUV Changan Nevo Q05 has just unveiled its interior design in the Chinese market ahead of its official launch in November. Positioned as a direct competitor to the BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus), it is expected to start at approximately 110,000 RMB (15,450 USD), equivalent to around 407 million VND.
The Nevo Q05 adopts a minimalist design philosophy similar to the previously launched Q07. It features a large central touchscreen, a slim LCD instrument cluster behind the D-shaped steering wheel, and nearly eliminates all physical buttons. Core operational functions are integrated into the screen or controlled via voice commands.
The center console includes two wireless charging pads, a compact button cluster, dual cup holders, and a spacious storage compartment. Notably, the front passenger seat offers a zero-gravity mode to reduce spinal pressure, complemented by an electrically adjustable footrest.
The rear seats feature an additional headrest, dedicated air vents, and a panoramic sunroof. However, the ADAS module positioned behind the windshield may obstruct the driver’s view.
As a compact SUV, the Nevo Q05 is built on the Digital Wing 2.0 design language. It boasts dual-layer headlights, active large air intakes, hidden door handles, connected taillights, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
Dimensions are 4,435 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a 2,735 mm wheelbase—20 mm shorter, 20 mm narrower, and 15 mm lower than the BYD Atto 3.
The Changan Nevo Q05 is powered by a single TZ180XS002 electric motor delivering a maximum output of 120 kW (161 hp). Energy is supplied by a battery pack produced by the Changan-CATL joint venture, offering two options:
40.3 kWh battery: 405 km range (CLTC).
51.9 kWh battery: 506 km range (CLTC).
The first-generation Q05, launched in 2023, was a PHEV variant of the CS55 Plus with a 1.5L gasoline engine paired with an electric motor. Priced between 96,900 and 112,900 RMB, it achieved modest sales of 15,247 units domestically (China EV DataTracker).
The shift to a fully electric SUV underscores Changan’s efforts to reposition its product and compete more aggressively in the affordable electric SUV segment, where the BYD Atto 3 currently leads in sales.
In Vietnam, Changan is recognized through its announced factory construction in early 2025. Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company and Changan Automobile Group have officially unveiled plans for the Kim Long Truong An Vietnam Passenger Car Factory. Spanning 30 hectares with a 50,000-unit annual capacity, the facility will employ Changan’s advanced production technology. Construction begins in 2025, targeting 40% localization initially and over 80% by Q2/2026.
