On September 19, the leadership of An Giang Province chaired a meeting to review the progress of projects and infrastructure developments for the APEC 2027 Summit.
According to the People’s Committee of An Giang Province, the locality has urgently implemented the directives from the Central Government and the Prime Minister regarding infrastructure preparations for APEC 2027. Out of 21 projects dedicated to the summit, the province has selected investors for 6 non-budget projects and approved 7 public investment projects (including 3 projects where construction contractors have been chosen).
Notably, 5 projects have met or exceeded their timelines, including: the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, Bai Dat Do Urban Area, Nui Ong Quan Urban Area, underground infrastructure in An Thoi, and infrastructure in Duong Dong. These key projects significantly enhance urban aesthetics and infrastructure capacity for the event.
Among the 5 projects reported to be on or ahead of schedule, 3 are led by Sun Group: the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, Bai Dat Do Urban Area, and Nui Ong Quan Urban Area. Details are as follows:
The expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, invested by Sun Group’s Airport Corporation, has a total capital of VND 22 trillion and is scheduled for completion between 2025 and 2027. This critical project aims to increase the airport’s capacity to 18 million passengers annually, ensuring readiness for international delegates by Q2-2027.
The Bai Dat Do Mixed-Use Urban Area, developed by Sun Group’s Phu Quoc Solar Company, has a total investment of VND 64 trillion and is set for completion between 2025 and 2027. The project aims to create a modern urban space integrated with a high-end conference center and hotel facilities to directly support the APEC Summit.
The Nui Ong Quan Eco-Tourism Urban Area, also developed by Sun Group’s Phu Quoc Solar Company, has a total investment of VND 5.55 trillion and is scheduled for completion between 2025 and 2027. This project focuses on developing a luxury resort space harmonized with nature, catering to diplomatic events, cultural experiences, and premium services.
The above 3 projects were awarded investor selection approval by the former Kien Giang Province (now An Giang Province) in June 2025.
During the meeting, An Giang’s leadership urged all departments, agencies, and localities to focus intensely on reviewing each project, resolutely addressing challenges related to procedures, funding, materials, and land clearance. They also emphasized individual accountability, enhanced coordination, and timely reporting to ensure project quality and timelines.
Leaders also highlighted the need for Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone to accelerate its efforts in implementing tasks related to APEC 2027 projects, providing weekly updates on land clearance progress and promptly reporting any obstacles for resolution.
With unwavering determination, An Giang aims to complete all key projects on schedule, ensuring optimal conditions for the successful hosting of the APEC 2027 Summit.
