The seminar was attended by leaders from the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Quang Tri Province, T&T Group, and 15 leading U.S. companies in aviation, technology, and financial services. Notable attendees included Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco Systems, Collins Aerospace, GE Aerospace, Gensler, BNP Associates, Hill International, KBR, United Airlines, and Oshkosh AeroTech.
A Major Investment Promotion Forum in Aviation
The seminar served as a crucial platform for regulators, airlines, and businesses from both countries to exchange ideas and explore collaboration opportunities. It also provided an opportunity for the U.S. to share advanced expertise in design, operations, safety, and digitalization, supporting Vietnam’s goal of becoming a leading regional aviation hub.
Steven Green, Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, emphasized that enhancing aviation connectivity not only boosts trade and investment but also fosters innovation, safety, security, and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Vietnam’s aviation market is among the fastest-growing in Southeast Asia, with passenger traffic projected to increase by 8% annually until 2030. The national master plan aims to establish 30 airports by 2030 and 33 by 2050, leveraging advanced technology and public-private partnerships.
Numerous Bilateral Cooperation Opportunities
Vietnam and the U.S. have made significant strides in aviation. Several Vietnamese airlines have signed major agreements with U.S. partners across various domains, including direct routes, code-sharing, cargo transport, aircraft maintenance, technology collaboration, and high-quality workforce training.
Speaking at the event, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Courtney Beale stated:
“Strengthening aviation partnerships not only drives economic cooperation but also leads to innovation, enhances safety and security standards, and deepens human connections that shape the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the U.S.”
Deputy Chief Beale praised T&T Group as a “transformative leader in the private sector.” Notably, the Group is developing a comprehensive aviation ecosystem, including airlines, airports, and integrated airport-urban complexes with modern infrastructure.
Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Vice Chairman of T&T Group and Chairman of Vietravel Airlines, emphasized:
“For T&T Group, partnering with U.S. companies is a long-term strategic priority. In aviation, we are pursuing an integrated model centered on technology, international management, and customer experience. With leading U.S. partners, Vietravel Airlines aims to achieve sustainable growth in Vietnam and position the country as a key global aviation hub.”
T&T Group’s Integrated Aviation Vision
Beyond hosting the seminar, T&T Group is shaping an integrated aviation conglomerate, a model proven successful by groups like Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, and Emirates.
T&T is also planning a 10,800-hectare aviation-logistics-commerce-urban complex in Quang Tri, the first of its kind in Vietnam.
Quang Tri Airport, a key project with an investment of over VND 5.8 trillion, broke ground in July 2024. Upon completion of Phase 1 (expected in 2026), it will meet 4C standards, handle Code E aircraft, and serve 5 million passengers and 25,500 tons of cargo annually. Quang Tri Province is seeking an upgrade to 4E to accommodate wide-body aircraft like the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350.
In the skies, T&T is a strategic shareholder of Vietravel Airlines, targeting a fleet of 30–50 aircraft by 2030, with routes spanning Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and the Middle East.
T&T Group is actively expanding international partnerships. In February 2025, T&T engaged with Boeing to become a strategic partner in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Previously, in 2021, T&T signed agreements with U.S. firms in renewable energy, agriculture, and nutraceuticals.
T&T also has a direct presence in the U.S. through T&T USA, with real estate projects in California and plans for large-scale investments in Huntington Beach.
T&T Group’s strategic initiatives not only expand its global value chain and attract U.S. FDI but also demonstrate the private sector’s pioneering role in aviation and national infrastructure development. With its long-term vision and national focus, T&T Group is poised to significantly contribute to Vietnam’s goal of becoming a leading regional aviation hub.
