Hanoi residents line up to buy traditional mooncakes.

According to VTC News, traditional mooncake shops have been bustling with customers in the final days of the seventh lunar month.

At a renowned traditional mooncake shop on Thuy Khue Street (Tay Ho, Hanoi), long lines of customers waited from morning to noon.

On average, each customer waited 10 to 15 minutes before entering the shop.

“With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, more customers are buying mooncakes for ancestral worship. Our mooncakes are handmade daily, so many wait for freshly baked ones,” said Mr. Pham Van Dinh, the shop owner.

Ms. Thuy Quynh (Tay Ho District) shared, “My family always buys traditional mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival to worship and enjoy together. I thought buying early would avoid crowds, but the line was still long.”

Another branch of the shop nearby was also packed with customers.

All five checkout counters were occupied.

Mr. Pham Hai Dang, another shop owner, noted, “Sales are slightly slower this year, but loyal customers keep production stable. Early buyers have been steady, avoiding last-minute rushes. As traditional mooncakes have no preservatives, we bake and sell daily.”

Mr. Dang mentioned that traditional flavors like mixed nuts and mung bean remain popular. However, due to rising ingredient costs, some prices were adjusted. “Mixed nut mooncakes increased from VND 55,000 to VND 60,000, and vegan mooncakes from VND 25,000 to VND 30,000. Other flavors remain unchanged,” he added.

Mooncakes were continuously brought from the bakery to the shop to meet demand.

Customers waited in long lines for their turn to buy mooncakes.

Alongside traditional flavors, unique mooncakes with creative fillings were also popular.

A shop employee noted, “Mooncakes with young rice fillings have been popular for five years, but this year, sales surged among young customers. Only young rice and salted egg yolk fillings remain, with a limit of five per customer. Online orders are closed until September 26th, and only in-store purchases are available.”

Despite the wait, customers were satisfied with their favorite mooncakes.

Young rice mooncakes cost VND 80,000 to VND 100,000 each, with an additional VND 50,000 for gift packaging.
