The construction site of Component 2 of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway (section through the old Can Tho City) has seen simultaneous bridge construction, with all bridges expected to be completed by July 2026.

At the Kenh Dung Bridge construction site, part of Component 2 of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway, worker Nguyen Duy Truong (43, from Quang Ngai Province) reflects on his constant homesickness. His family understands and supports him, knowing that hundreds of workers like him are contributing to this national key project. “Once the road is completed, travel will be smoother, goods will flow faster, and the economy will grow. We take pride in our small contribution,” Truong shares.

The site manager of Package 12 ensures progress by closely monitoring each phase, making timely adjustments to compensate for delays. The site maintains 22 work fronts with approximately 300 workers operating at full capacity, including overtime, to meet the project’s overall timeline.

According to the management board of Component 2 of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway, the site operates with around 500 pieces of machinery, nearly 1,000 workers, and 100 work fronts running continuously, including during the National Day holiday on September 2nd, to ensure construction progress.

On the Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway project site, construction units maintain normal operations without interruption.

Mr. Phan Duy Lai, Deputy Director of the My Thuan Project Management Board (investor), states that the Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway project has approximately 200 active work fronts with 1,900 personnel, including workers, technicians, and nearly 900 pieces of machinery and equipment.

Current challenges include peak rainy season, which hinders construction. Weak geology also prolongs settlement time, affecting the progress of loading and crushed stone foundation construction. The investor has implemented various technical solutions to accelerate progress.

The number of machine operators has doubled to enable nighttime construction. Design consultants have been instructed to calculate increased loading heights to shorten settlement time. A peak competition campaign has been launched on-site, with regular summaries and timely rewards to boost morale and ensure fair wages and bonuses for overtime workers, maintaining construction momentum.

Committed to completing the project as directed by the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction, the investor, contractors, and supervisors pledge to maintain a “3-shift, 4-team” work schedule, overcoming all obstacles to meet the target completion date of December 19, 2025.
The Can Tho – Ca Mau Expressway, over 110km long with a total investment of more than VND 27.5 trillion, is set to be inaugurated in December 2025. The Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway, over 188km long with a total investment of nearly VND 44.7 trillion, is expected to be substantially completed by 2026 and fully operational by 2027.
