7-seater vehicles, including compact MPVs, are among the most popular segments in Vietnam. The key advantage of these vehicles is their three-row seating, spacious interiors, and affordable pricing, making them ideal for both business and family use.
As the year-end peak season approaches, the segment is heating up with the launch of the 2025 facelifted Mitsubishi Xpander. The upgraded model was introduced right after the end of the Ghost Month.

The 2025 facelifted Xpander and Xpander Cross feature subtle design updates inside and out, along with upgraded equipment and enhanced safety features. The prices have been slightly adjusted, with the Xpander AT Premium priced at 659 million VND and the Xpander Cross at 699 million VND, a mere 1 million VND increase compared to the previous version.
These upgrades, coupled with virtually unchanged pricing, are expected to sustain the Xpander’s appeal in the segment. In the first eight months of 2025, the model delivered 10,646 units to domestic customers, solidifying its position as the leading MPV in Vietnam.
Mitsubishi’s decision to refresh its flagship Xpander is seen as a necessary move amid the growing popularity of affordable electric vehicles. In the MPV segment, the newly launched VinFast Limo Green, introduced in August, is considered a strong contender against the Xpander in the service vehicle market.

The VinFast Limo Green is priced at 749 million VND, higher than the Xpander, but it comes with a 100% exemption from registration fees and other incentives, making its on-road costs comparable to the Japanese model.
Notably, the Limo Green offers free charging until mid-2027, providing a significant advantage in terms of operating costs, which enhances its appeal, especially for service vehicle buyers. Additionally, its mid-size MPV dimensions ensure a spacious cabin.
Beyond the emerging competition between gasoline and electric MPVs, the affordable 7-seater segment is also intensifying due to aggressive price reductions from manufacturers and dealerships.
Since early September, even the segment leader, the Xpander, has offered 50-100% registration fee discounts across all variants. The top-tier Xpander Cross enjoys the highest incentive, valued at up to 75 million VND.
To compete with the Xpander, the Toyota Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio are also offering 100% registration fee support along with additional gifts this month.
The discounts amount to 64.7-69.3 million VND for the Avanza Premio and 72.7-75 million VND for the Veloz Cross. After deductions, the prices of these models can drop to approximately 493.3-528.7 million VND (Avanza Premio) and 565.3-585 million VND (Veloz Cross), significantly boosting their market appeal.

The Veloz Cross frequently offers substantial discounts to compete with the Xpander.
Other compact MPVs offering promotions this month include the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid, Honda BR-V, Hyundai Stargazer, and Kia Carens, with discounts ranging from 30 to 70 million VND, depending on the model and variant.
These extensive promotions are primarily aimed at boosting sales during the Ghost Month. As the market enters the year-end shopping season, manufacturers are expected to maintain these incentives to drive sales.
In terms of sales, the Xpander dominates the segment, while the Toyota Veloz Cross is the second-best seller in the compact MPV category. In the first eight months of this year, the Japanese model sold 4,593 units.
Following the Veloz Cross are the Honda BR-V (2,572 units), Kia Carens (2,400 units), Hyundai Stargazer (2,168 units), Suzuki XL7 Hybrid (1,596 units), and Toyota Avanza Premio (759 units).
