The People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province has decided to reclaim 3,307 square meters of prime coastal land allocated to Thanh An Company – AI-generated image (executed by Hoang Phuc)

On September 21, the Office of the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province announced that Chairman Tran Phong had signed a notice regarding the reclamation of land allocated to Thanh An Construction Company. The land, located in Dong Hoi Ward, was intended for a tourism project but faced significant delays in implementation.

Accordingly, the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province has decided to reclaim 3,307 square meters of land in Hai Thanh Ward (now Dong Hoi Ward). This land was originally leased to Thanh An Construction Company by the former People’s Committee of Quang Binh Province in August 2010 for the development of the Thanh An Resort.

The reason for the reclamation, as stated by the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province, is that after years of inaction, Thanh An Construction Company has left the prime land abandoned, leading to a waste of valuable land resources.

Recently, the company was granted an additional 24-month extension to commence the project, but it has still failed to utilize the land. This situation falls under the land reclamation provisions outlined in Clause 8, Article 81 of the 2024 Land Law.

The People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province has also mandated that Thanh An Construction Company must handle its assets on the land within 45 days of receiving the notice. If the company fails to comply within this timeframe, the state will proceed with land reclamation without compensation for the land, attached assets, or remaining investment costs, as per legal regulations.
