The visit followed a historic event in Seattle, where Vietjet took delivery of its first Boeing 737 as part of a 200-aircraft deal valued at 32 billion USD—the largest aviation agreement between Vietnam and the United States.
During a warm reception by NYSE Chairman Lynn Martin, Madame Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo highlighted the remarkable growth of Vietnam’s capital market over the past 30 years, with companies listed on HOSE, including Vietjet and HDBank. She expressed her ambition to propel Vietnamese enterprises onto the global stage, aiming for a presence on the world’s largest stock exchange in New York. This move would expand international capital raising channels and solidify Vietnam’s position on the global financial map.

Currently, NYSE oversees approximately 2,400 listed companies with a combined market capitalization of nearly 29 trillion USD. Madame Lynn Martin, the second female chairman in NYSE’s 300-year history, shared insights into the New York Stock Exchange’s evolution. She affirmed NYSE’s commitment to supporting Vietnamese companies, including Vietjet and HDBank, as they explore opportunities in the New York capital market.
Addressing the event, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo stated, “We are eager to fly to the United States and explore capital raising opportunities at the New York Stock Exchange—the world’s largest. This aspiration is not just for Vietjet and HDBank but also for many Vietnamese enterprises striving for global integration.”
Both Vietjet and HDBank are part of the VN30 index, delivering sustainable value to domestic and international investors. With a global vision and a sustainable development strategy, learning from and eventually raising capital on NYSE—a symbol of global financial power—marks a pivotal step in establishing Vietnamese enterprises on the international stage.
During the visit, the Vietjet Chairwoman participated in the closing bell ceremony at 4:00 PM. The session concluded with the U.S. stock market rising by 48 points, adding a memorable touch to the day.
The NYSE visit not only opens new avenues for Vietjet, HDBank, and other Vietnamese enterprises but also showcases Vietnam’s dynamic, integrated, and ambitious spirit in the era of globalization.
