On September 23, the Da Nang People’s Committee announced its approval of the investment policy for the Lien Chieu Port Container Terminal Complex project. The project will be implemented through a bidding process to select investors.
Located in Hai Van Ward, the project spans approximately 172 hectares, including 146 hectares of land and nearly 26 hectares of water area in front of the port.
The overall design capacity is approximately 5.7 million TEUs per year (equivalent to 74 million tons per year). By 2030, the expected throughput is projected to reach 14.25–36.3 million tons per year.

The Lien Chieu Port project is under construction in Hai Van Ward, Da Nang City.
According to the plan, Lien Chieu Port will feature 8 container berths with a total quay length of 2,750 meters, capable of accommodating vessels up to 18,000 TEUs. An additional barge berth will handle 5,000-ton ships for cargo consolidation, reducing road congestion and logistics costs.
The port’s backend infrastructure includes synchronized warehouses, container storage yards, inspection areas, packing/unpacking zones, repair workshops, administrative offices, and technical facilities. Notably, the project includes a cargo consolidation yard directly connected to the national railway network, facilitating multimodal transportation.
The total investment exceeds VND 45,268 billion (approximately USD 1.76 billion). This comprises VND 9,053 billion in equity, with the remainder sourced from credit institutions. The project’s operational period is 50 years from the date of land or sea area allocation.
Construction is expected to begin in Q4-2025 and conclude in Q1-2036. Phase 1 (2025–2028) will involve building and operating at least 2 berths along with backend infrastructure, laying the groundwork for subsequent expansion phases.
The Lien Chieu Port project consists of two components: Component A—shared infrastructure funded by over VND 3,400 billion from central and local budgets, commenced in late 2022 and slated for completion by late 2025; Component B seeks private investment for the remaining berth systems.
