Recently, Vietnam’s Aviation Authority announced details regarding flight inspection, calibration, and navigation procedure assessments at Long Thanh International Airport, a project with a total investment exceeding $16 billion.
Beginning September 26th, the Beechcraft KingAir 300 series aircraft will be utilized for these operations. This aircraft is widely recognized for its stability, maneuverability, and ability to meet the stringent technical requirements of calibration flights.
The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation’s subsidiary, ATTECH, will lead these efforts, supported by experts from the Czech Republic’s Air Navigation Academy.

ATTECH will calibrate essential systems, including ILS/DME and VOR/DME navigation aids, airfield lighting, radar surveillance, ADS-B, and associated flight procedures.
Approved by the Operations Command, the calibration flights are scheduled from September 26th to October 24th, 2025. To minimize disruption to Tan Son Nhat Airport’s commercial operations, flights will occur during late-night or early-morning hours.
These calibrations are not only technical requirements but also demonstrate the government’s commitment to meeting the 2025 completion deadline for Long Thanh International Airport.
Experts emphasize that these assessments are critical to ensuring compliance with ICAO standards and validating new navigation procedures before the airport’s operational debut.

As a national flagship project, Long Thanh Airport is accelerating construction with 17,000 workers and round-the-clock operations to meet the December 19th, 2025 completion target.
Vietnam Airports Corporation is finalizing operational plans for a 2026 launch, anticipating thousands of daily domestic and international passengers. Its strategic location positions it as a key Southeast Asian and Asia-Pacific hub, making transportation connectivity critical.
Currently, access is limited to National Highway 51 and the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, prompting concerns about connectivity to HCMC and other regions.
Dong Nai Province is prioritizing infrastructure projects to enhance links between Long Thanh Airport and HCMC, the Central Highlands, and surrounding areas.
The Prime Minister has inspected the project eight times, most recently on August 2nd, 2025, urging all stakeholders to intensify efforts for the 2025 completion and 2026 commercial launch.
Key priorities include completing four major components, ensuring seamless transportation links, air traffic control systems, utilities, environmental enhancements, and fuel supply infrastructure.
