The visit followed a historic event in Seattle, where Vietjet received its first Boeing 737 aircraft under a $32 billion contract for 200 planes—the largest aviation deal between Vietnam and the United States.
During the warm reception by NYSE Chairman Lynn Martin, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao highlighted Vietnam’s capital market growth over the past 30 years, with companies like Vietjet and HDBank listed on HOSE. She expressed her ambition to elevate Vietnamese businesses onto the global stage, aiming for a presence on the world’s largest stock exchange in New York, to expand international capital channels, and solidify Vietnam’s position on the global financial map.

NYSE currently oversees approximately 2,400 listed companies with a combined market capitalization of nearly $29 trillion. Lynn Martin, the second female chairman in NYSE’s 300-year history, shared insights into the New York Stock Exchange’s evolution and affirmed her commitment to supporting Vietnamese companies, including Vietjet and HDBank, in exploring opportunities within the New York capital market.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao emphasized, “We will soon fly to the United States and are eager to explore capital-raising opportunities on the New York Stock Exchange—the world’s largest. This is not just the aspiration of Vietjet and HDBank but also the dream of many Vietnamese enterprises striving for global integration.”

Both Vietjet and HDBank are part of the VN30 index, delivering consistent value to domestic and international investors. With a global vision and sustainable development strategy, learning from and eventually raising capital on NYSE—a symbol of global financial power—marks a pivotal step in establishing Vietnamese enterprises on the international stage.

During her visit, the Vietjet Chairwoman participated in the closing bell ceremony at 4:00 PM. The session concluded with the U.S. stock market rising by 48 points, adding a memorable touch to the day.
The NYSE visit not only opens new avenues for Vietjet, HDBank, and other Vietnamese companies but also showcases Vietnam’s dynamism, integration, and ambitious drive in the era of globalization.
