LEGO and Pandora Projects Implement Saint-Gobain’s Fire Protection Solutions

Modern industrial parks like VSIP have emerged as prime investment hubs, attracting global giants such as LEGO and Pandora to operate billion-dollar facilities that adhere to stringent green, clean, and safety standards. Within these parks, advanced fire-resistant materials and solutions play a critical role, safeguarding not only human lives and assets but also ensuring uninterrupted production processes.

Thanks to robust foreign direct investment (FDI), numerous industrial parks like VSIP (formerly Binh Duong) have garnered significant investor interest. These parks boast synchronized infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and manufacturing environments that meet international standards. They are also hubs for thousands of workers and continuously operating machinery. Any fire or explosion incident could result in severe human and property damage.

To safeguard human life, maintain uninterrupted production, and ensure global supply chain stability, FDI projects must adhere to stringent fire safety standards, both internationally and as mandated by Vietnamese law.

Global giants like LEGO and Pandora are no exception. These industry leaders must implement the most rigorous fire safety standards, blending Vietnam’s regulations such as QCVN 06:2022/BXD with esteemed international benchmarks like EN 1364, ASTM E119, and UL 263.

For green buildings, the requirements are even more stringent: materials must have an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions certification to meet LEED standards, aiming for carbon neutrality.

LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam, a state-of-the-art facility with over $1 billion in investment, began operations in April 2025. It is Vietnam’s first factory targeting 100% renewable energy operation by early 2026. The office building and children’s play area have achieved LEED Platinum certification, while production, packaging, and warehouse areas have earned LEED Gold.

In this context, manufacturers and suppliers of sustainable, lightweight, and eco-friendly materials like Saint-Gobain Vietnam have solidified their position as comprehensive solution providers.

At the LEGO project, Saint-Gobain’s fire protection solutions were seamlessly integrated, including: EI60 and EI150 fire-resistant wall systems, EI45 fire-resistant ceiling systems, and Vetrotech EI60 fire-resistant glass partitions. The EI60 and EI150 walls use Vinh Tuong-Gyproc fire-resistant gypsum boards and Isover mineral wool, ensuring both fire protection and sound insulation—the EI150 system achieves up to 59dB soundproofing. The EI45 ceiling system employs DURAflex Firestop and Vinh Tuong-Gyproc gypsum boards, meeting fire safety and load-bearing requirements.

Notably, Saint-Gobain’s fire protection components used in the LEGO factory underwent VOC emissions testing by the California Department of Public Health. Tested in an environmental chamber for 10 to 14 days, they met the highest standards, with formaldehyde and VOC emissions measured over 14 days.

Similarly, Pandora’s manufacturing facility prioritizes renewable energy, recycled materials, and high-performance, eco-friendly fire protection systems. Saint-Gobain supplied EI60 and EI120 fire-resistant duct systems, ensuring fire resistance, durability, and mold resistance—critical in Pandora’s precision jewelry production environment, where humidity and microorganisms can impact product quality and worker health.

At these billion-dollar projects, every fire protection component must meet QCVN 06:2022/BXD fire resistance standards while aligning with Saint-Gobain’s global mission of “Making the world a better home” through sustainability, energy efficiency, and reduced emissions.

Saint-Gobain Vietnam’s representatives emphasize their unique position as a full-service provider of certified fire protection solutions. As a leader in sustainable, lightweight building materials, Saint-Gobain Vietnam collaborates closely with general and subcontractors, ensuring components are installed to international standards and technical specifications.

Their comprehensive solutions, backed by international certifications, streamline project acceptance and expedite approval processes for clients.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Hai, CEO of Saint-Gobain Vietnam, stated: “Saint-Gobain is proud to be a comprehensive fire protection solution provider, trusted by landmark projects like LEGO and Pandora. These factories will employ tens of thousands, and their safety is our core value. We are committed to protecting people, property, and sustainable development.”

With over 360 years of global experience and nearly 35 years in Vietnam, Saint-Gobain is a vital partner for contractors and investors, delivering advanced fire protection solutions and safe workspaces for all.
